Intern, Automation Factory (6-Month Term)

CC&L Financial Group is seeking an Intern to join the Automation Factory team in the Investment Resources Group (IRG) for a 6-month term. Investment Resource Group is a group committed to provide accurate, timely, and efficient global investment operations and support the sustainable growth of CC&L Financial Group and its affiliates. The Automation Factory team is an innovative, energetic, dynamic and collaborative group of individuals, whose interest is to create winning conditions for the Investment Resource Group and the CC&L Financial Group by developing automation solutions for manual and repetitive tasks. You will have an opportunity to gain first-hand experience of process innovation in the operational side of the asset management firm. It is a dynamic, fast-paced work environment where opportunities for learning and growth are abounded. The role is suited for an individual whose career objectives include a keen interest in gaining exposure to the operational and technical side of the finance industry.

What you will do:
  • Automation Project Documentation: Participate in business process walkthroughs or solution discussions and collaborate with automation factory team members to document the current and future state of processes in a standardized template with process diagrams.
  • Automation Project Support: Support existing and new automated solutions.
  • Automation Project Tracking:  Keep up to date on the status of each project through an internal team meeting and/or separate discussion with team members and ensure the most up-to-date status is reflected in the collaboration space in MS SharePoint.   
  • Automation Testing (and Development): Partner with automation developers to perform a testing of automation solutions and/or co-ordinate testing. There is an opportunity for development work if the development work aligns with your career interest and objective.
  • Idea Generation: Understand the current automation framework and/or individual projects /solutions and make suggestion for an improvement.

What you bring:
  • The Intern, Automation Factory position is intended for candidates who have completed a B.Tech in Computer Science or an MBA in Technology.
  • Candidates should demonstrate a strong academic background, with coding certifications considered a strong asset. We are looking for ambitious individuals who are keen to contribute to process efficiency initiatives at CC&L.
  • Highly Proficient with excel, excel formula, word and power point
  • A positive attitude and collaborative spirit with an interest for the investment industry
  • Strong communication skills (speaking, listening, and writing)
  • A strong desire to improve and enhance processes coupled with tenacious mentality and ability to problem solve and ‘think outside of the box’
Nice to have
  • Experience with collaboration or project management tools such as MS SharePoint, MS Project, Confluence, JIRA or Smartsheet is an asset
  • Experience with programming language, robotic process automation tools or business intelligence/data analytics tools such as Python, VBA Macro, MS Power Automate, MS Power BI, MS Fabric and/or MS Power Query is an asset
  • Understanding of software development methodologies and business process design, analysis and mapping is an asset
