Intern, Investment Data Management

Investment Data Management (IDM) Team, part of Investment Data and Analytics (IDA) group resides within the middle office and is responsible for managing data centric processes and data quality that supports the investment management business.  The team ensures that daily and historical data is accurate, data delivery processes are successful, and comply with overall data governance.  IDM is a key thought-leader in driving data management maturity at Connor, Clark & Lunn Financial Group (CCLFG).  CCLFG manages a wide range of global assets and heavily relies on the output of the IDM for a variety of functions from the front office to back office.  This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a dynamic strategic team whose scope and importance continue to grow. IDA Department within CCLFG’s Investment Operations Group in addition to data as mentioned above, supports industry standards and customized analytics.  We support pre-trade analysis, modeling, trading, compliance, as well as post-trade performance, attribution, client reporting, sales reporting, and custom analytics. Work Timings: AM Shift (6:30 AM – 3:30 PM) or PM Shift (1:30 PM – 10:30 PM)

What You’ll Be Doing
The Investment Data ‘Intern’ role is an entry-level, learning-focused position designed to support day-to-day investment data management activities under close supervision. The intern will assist the team in maintaining data accuracy, reviewing exception reports, monitoring investment processes, and supporting operational tasks.
  • Assist in maintaining and validating reference and pricing data across multiple systems for Equities and Fixed Income instruments.
  • Support the execution of daily and periodic data validation checks to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of investment data.
  • Monitor scheduled investment data processes and escalate exceptions or issues in line with defined procedures.
  • Provide operational support to senior team members as part of day‑to‑day data management activities.
  • Develop an understanding of investment data workflows, controls, and data quality standards through hands‑on exposure.
 
What You Bring
Education
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a graduate or postgraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline
  • Enrollment in or pursuit of professional certifications such as CFA or FRM is an advantage
Interest in Investments & Data
  • Basic understanding of financial markets and investment instruments is preferred
  • Demonstrated interest in learning about investment data, systems, and operational processes
Skills & Attributes
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow defined processes and controls
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel and foundational SQL knowledge
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team‑based environment
  • Analytical mindset with critical‑thinking skills
  • Prior internship experience or academic exposure to finance or investment data is beneficial but not mandatory
