When you join the Institutional Portfolio Operations (IPO) team as a Analyst, you are joining a group of tightknit, energetic, and social individuals, who together have a direct impact on the investment success of individuals, pension funds, foundations and endowments, First Nations and other institutional clients.

The Institutional Portfolio Operations Analyst is a critical part of our firm and clients’ success and is a challenging and rewarding role for the right individual. In this introductory role, you will experience the inter-workings of the asset management world and will have the opportunity to advance your skills for future growth and development within Connor, Clark & Lunn (CC&L).

What You Will Do


The Institutional Portfolio Operations Analyst serves as the key provider of accurate investment portfolio data to the entire CC&L family. In this role, you will:

 

  • Reconcile various items, including but not limited to: cash, transactions, holdings, futures, various derivative products, dividends, soft dollars, units, and alternative investments.

  • Communicate with custodians, prime brokers, portfolio managers, and key personnel across CC&L to investigate and resolve reconciliation discrepancies.

  • Communicate critical portfolio information and oversee the flow of sensitive information for all CC&L affiliates.

  • Work with auditors to assist in providing accurate and timely data for audits of our institutional client accounts.

  • Communicate with our custodians and prime brokers to set up daily delivery of external files for reconciliation purposes and to resolve data-related issues.

  • Participate in operational projects focusing on automation, efficiency, and the scalability of IPO’s services.


What You Will Bring

  • Investment Knowledge: You have an undergraduate degree in Finance, Business Administration or related field and a genuine interest for the investment industry with a minimum of 3 years of experience in an institutional investment firm, bank or trust company focusing on investment operations and reconciliations.

  • Collaborative Communication: You can articulate yourself clearly through both verbal and written mediums and work well with others to resolve complex issues.

  • Inquisitive Mind: You have the ability to think rationally and solve problems effectively. Demonstrated experience in process improvement initiatives, developing and automating process is beneficial.

  • Critical Thinking: You have a proven ability to problem solve in situations with less than complete information. You demonstrate strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze and diagnose further develop solutions.

  • Curiosity: You have a thirst for knowledge and lifelong learning. You learn quickly and take responsibility for own learning and development.

  • Team Player: You are committed to contributing and supporting a team of like-minded individuals who are driven and have high standards. Everyone you have worked with has wonderful things to say about you.

  • Positive Attitude: You are a sharp, ambitious, and enthusiastic person who will seek to improve existing processes and help to implement creative solutions. You are a “go-getter”.
