When you join the Institutional Portfolio Operations (IPO) team as a Analyst, you are joining a group of tightknit, energetic, and social individuals, who together have a direct impact on the investment success of individuals, pension funds, foundations and endowments, First Nations and other institutional clients.
The Institutional Portfolio Operations Analyst is a critical part of our firm and clients’ success and is a challenging and rewarding role for the right individual. In this introductory role, you will experience the inter-workings of the asset management world and will have the opportunity to advance your skills for future growth and development within Connor, Clark & Lunn (CC&L).
What You Will Do
The Institutional Portfolio Operations Analyst serves as the key provider of accurate investment portfolio data to the entire CC&L family. In this role, you will:

Reconcile various items, including but not limited to: cash, transactions, holdings, futures, various derivative products, dividends, soft dollars, units, and alternative investments.

Communicate with custodians, prime brokers, portfolio managers, and key personnel across CC&L to investigate and resolve reconciliation discrepancies.

Communicate critical portfolio information and oversee the flow of sensitive information for all CC&L affiliates.

Work with auditors to assist in providing accurate and timely data for audits of our institutional client accounts.

Communicate with our custodians and prime brokers to set up daily delivery of external files for reconciliation purposes and to resolve data-related issues.

Participate in operational projects focusing on automation, efficiency, and the scalability of IPO’s services.
What You Will Bring

Investment Knowledge: You have an undergraduate degree in Finance, Business Administration or related field and a genuine interest for the investment industry with a minimum of 3 years of experience in an institutional investment firm, bank or trust company focusing on investment operations and reconciliations.

Collaborative Communication: You can articulate yourself clearly through both verbal and written mediums and work well with others to resolve complex issues.

Inquisitive Mind: You have the ability to think rationally and solve problems effectively. Demonstrated experience in process improvement initiatives, developing and automating process is beneficial.

Critical Thinking: You have a proven ability to problem solve in situations with less than complete information. You demonstrate strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze and diagnose further develop solutions.
