Senior Business Process Designer

Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

Are you interested in joining one of Canada’s top‑performing asset managers? We are looking for a Senior Business Process Designer for an existing vacancy on our Automation Factory team to support the continued evolution and scalability of our operational, reporting, and automation capabilities. This role plays a critical part in enabling efficient, high‑quality delivery across Investment Operations. In this hands‑on individual contributor role, you will act as a business process design expert, partnering closely with business stakeholders and Technology teams to define clear, scalable, and automation‑ready process designs and optimizations. You will bring structure and clarity to complex environments, ensuring initiatives enter build and implementation phases with strong design foundations that reduce rework and delivery risk.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Lead end‑to‑end business process discovery, design and optimizations, working with business owners and subject matter experts to conceptually understand current‑state and define future‑state processes, including decision points, exceptions, controls, and handoffs.
  • Translate business objectives into clear, actionable process designs, ensuring requirements are well‑defined, scalable, and suitable for automation and reporting solutions.
  • Produce high‑quality process design artifacts, including BPMN diagrams, swim‑lane models, decision tables, process narratives, and supporting documentation required for build, testing, and release.
  • Partner closely with Business/Process Automation Analysts, Solution Architects, and development teams, providing clear design handoff, validating feasibility, and supporting analysts and delivery teams in translating designs into functional requirements or user stories.
  • Enable delivery efficiency and quality, ensuring initiatives enter build phases with well‑formed, reviewed and approved process designs, minimizing rework, churn, and downstream escalation.
  • Support UAT and adoption readiness, ensuring process intent is clearly understood and that downstream teams are equipped to validate and operate new or changed processes effectively.
  • Assess operational, risk, and control implications of process changes, collaborating with Risk, Compliance, and Operations partners as required.
  • Act as a process design expert and advisory escalation point for complex or ambiguous process questions, facilitating alignment and providing clear options and recommendations to enable decisions by process owners and leadership.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, proactively identifying opportunities to simplify processes, improve efficiency, reduce manual effort, and strengthen controls.
  • Support the establishment and evolution of process design standards and best practices, promoting consistency, reuse, and scalability across business units.
What You Bring
  • You have 5+ years of experience in business process design, operating model design, or process transformation roles, ideally within a post-trade environment, financial services, investment management, or similarly complex operational environment.
  • You have led end‑to‑end process discovery, design or re-engineering, including current‑state assessment and future‑state definition, with accountability for decision points, exceptions, controls, and handoffs.
  • You are comfortable working as an individual contributor, owning design quality, influencing decisions, and providing expert guidance.
  • You bring strong process design expertise, producing clear, high‑quality artifacts such as BPMN diagrams, swimlane models, decision tables, and process narratives that are practical, scalable, and ready for build and testing.
  • You design with automation and data enablement in mind, and experience with process design and modeling tools, BPM/BPMN platforms, RPA, workflow solutions, or similar automation technologies is considered an asset.
  • You are a systems thinker, able to look across end‑to‑end value streams to identify opportunities for simplification, standardization, reuse, and improved control.
  • You partner effectively with Business / Process Automation Analysts, Solution Architects, development teams, and operations partners, enabling each group to focus on their strengths through clear design handoff and shared understanding.
  • You communicate with clarity and professionalism, facilitating structured discussions, aligning diverse stakeholders, and navigating complex conversations with confidence and pragmatism.
  • You bring a continuous improvement mindset, proactively identifying opportunities to reduce manual effort, improve efficiency, and strengthen operational resilience over time.
The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $120,000.  The salary range provided reflects the base salary range for this position as required by legislation.
