
Reconciliation Analyst, Institutional Portfolio Operations
Are you interested in joining one of Canada’s top performing asset managers? We are looking for a Reconciliation Analyst, for an existing vacancy in our Institutional Portfolio Operations team. The Institutional Portfolio Operations (IPO) team is a group of tightknit, energetic, and social individuals, who together have a direct impact on the investment success of individuals, pension funds, foundations and endowments, First Nations and other institutional clients. The reconciliation position is a critical part of our firm and clients’ success and is a challenging and rewarding role for the right individual. In this role you will experience the inter-workings of the asset management world and will have the opportunity to advance your skills for future growth and development within Connor, Clark & Lunn (CC&L). Our offices currently operate on a hybrid model with a combination of in office and remote working days throughout the week.
What You Will Do
- Reconcile various items, including but not limited to: cash, transactions, holdings, futures, various derivative products, dividends, soft dollars, units, and alternative investments.
- Knowledge on investigation of the various reconciliation breaks due to shareholder activities, income discrepancies, corporate action breaks, failed trades or derivative breaks.
- Knowledge of various research platforms like Bloomberg or Reuters, etc.
- Experience of navigating custodian websites for extracting cash and holdings reports
- Communicate with custodians, prime brokers, portfolio managers, and key personnel across CC&L to investigate and resolve reconciliation discrepancies.
- Communicate with our custodians and prime brokers to set up daily delivery of external files for reconciliation purposes and to resolve data-related issues.
- Communicate critical portfolio information and oversee the flow of sensitive information for all CC&L affiliates.
- Work with auditors to assist in providing accurate and timely data for audits of our institutional client accounts.
- Participate in continuous improvement of business processes and procedures, with focus on automation, efficiency, and the scalability of IPO’s services.
- Participate in testing and implementation of projects and new/revised products/services or processes.
- Complete month-end reconciliation of accounts to ensure that all client accounts that are out of balance or require investigation can be reviewed and resolved accordingly and in a timely manner.
- Analyze issues and determine next steps; escalate as required.
- Complete complex & diverse tasks within given rules/limits.
- Perform other tasks and ad-hoc projects as assigned to you from time to time.
- Knowledge of Advent APX and SS&C RECON applications are beneficial, but not required.
- Knowledge of capital markets, derivatives, securities, and corporate actions.
What You Bring
- You have a postgraduate degree in Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
- You have a genuine interest for the investment industry with prior experience in an institutional investment firm, bank, or trust company. A minimum of 2 years experience in investment operations is necessary.
- You can articulate yourself clearly through both verbal and written mediums and work well with others to resolve complex issues.
- You have the ability to think rationally, and problem solve effectively. Demonstrated experience in process improvement initiatives, developing and automating processes is beneficial.
- You have a proven ability to problem solve in situations with less than complete information. You demonstrate strong analytical skills, ability to analyze situations, diagnose problems, and develop proactive solutions. You are proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel) and computer literate.
- You have a thirst for knowledge and lifelong learning. You have the ability to learn quickly and take responsibility for own learning and development.

The salary range for this position is $70,000-$80,000. The salary range provided reflects the base salary range for this position as required by legislation. In addition, there is an annual performance bonus which contributes to the total compensation for this position. Further questions may be directed to the HR team during the interview process.
