Assistant Director of Marketing Communications

Position Summary:
CCOF is seeking an Assistant Director of Marketing to manage the strategic planning, execution, and reporting of all Digital Marketing and Marketing Communications Team initiatives. Their primary focus is to support and lead the Marketing team’s efforts and cross organizational projects to increase awareness of CCOF Certification, Foundation, and Policy endeavors, and to drive targeted audiences towards actions that contribute to meeting organizational objectives and goals.

The Assistant Director of Marketing must excel in complex project management, creativity and innovation, vision development, clear communication, and team leadership. This is a full-time, exempt position that reports to the Director of Marketing. This is a United States-based remote position.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Lead and support the Marketing Communications Team and Digital Marketing Specialist to meet organizational goals and objectives related to brand awareness, certification lead generation, member and public communications, fundraising, and policy support.
- Manage cross organizational marketing omnichannel strategies, project communications, planning, and execution, budget tracking, and reporting.
- Partner with the Director of Marketing to develop vision and strategy for the department.
Specific Duties:
- Ensure Digital Marketing Specialist and Marketing Communications Team are equipped with the necessary tools and streamlined processes to effectively execute projects and achieve impactful results.
- Determine key performance indicators and goals for Marketing Communications Team and Digital Marketing Specialist.
- Nurture the development of team members, clarify roles and objectives, delegates responsibilities, provide executional support, ensure compliance with state and federal labor regulations and promote diversity, equity and inclusion within the organization.
- Manage Digital Marketing and Marketing Communications team budgets and day to day execution of project plans, interdepartmental communication, and reporting.
- Lead agency and vendor relationships and cross organizational meetings and projects related to marketing and communications.
- Develop and direct marketing channel strategies, budgeting, and workplan. Develop proactive channel strategies to seize opportunities and address areas for improvement, fostering consistent progress in traffic and conversion rates, and meeting or exceeding predefined goals.
- Identify opportunities and areas for improvement and enable informed decision-making processes by utilizing data-driven insights.
- Oversee direct reports by giving and receiving feedback and addressing performance problems, defining roles and goals, delegating, modeling CCOF's values and imparting our culture to their direct reports, ensuring CCOF remains in compliance with employment laws, and promoting diversity, equity and inclusion.
Required Qualifications:
- 6+ years of professional marketing experience as an individual contributor. Demonstrates marketing expertise with a proven history of enhancing brand visibility and driving conversion growth through targeted marketing strategies, relationship-building efforts, and customer engagement initiatives. Successful in delivering quantifiable gains in market share and brand visibility by employing effective omni-channel tactics.
- 2-3 years of managerial experience. Demonstrates inclusive leadership and effective management skills to inspire and motivate team members towards goal achievement. Delegates tasks adeptly while maintaining accountability and recognizes areas for personal and team growth.
- Demonstrates expertise in Budget and Project Management, encompassing budget forecasting, meticulous project planning, and diligent monitoring. Exhibits a proven track record of efficiently managing project timelines, allocating resources, and controlling costs to successfully attain organizational objectives.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving ability. Develops proactive channel strategies to seize opportunities and address areas for improvement, fostering consistent progress in traffic and conversion rates, and meeting or exceeding predefined goals. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. May manage a sub-function within the department.
- Excellent communication skills, characterized by clarity, precision, and empathy, enabling effective representation of the organization's interests and advocacy for community members. Proficient in fostering open dialogue, sharing relevant context, and actively listening to understand diverse perspectives.
- Proficient in utilizing Google Analytics, Google Ads, Salesforce, as well as Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat, SharePoint, Teams, and Zoom, coupled with a proactive attitude towards seeking additional training as necessary.
Desired Qualifications:
- Organic Certification and/or Agricultural Industry experience.
- College Degree in Communications, Marketing, Business, or related field.
- Spanish language skills sufficient to communicate verbally and in writing.
- Knowledge and familiarity with DEI principles. Willing to talk about race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, class, ability, or gender and the ways our identities shape our experience at work. Understands the historical context for inequities and its present-day implications.
- Experience working remotely with in-office and remote teams.
Supervisory Responsibilities or Key Relationships:
- This role will be responsible for managing a team of 5 direct reports.
Physical and Travel Requirements:
- Ability to travel domestically (about 2 days a month)
- Ability to lift 40 lbs. from ground to waist and be physically able to pack boxes and materials for trade shows and events
- Ability to stand and walk for several hours
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer

Compensation: CCOF takes pride in offering competitive pay and benefits such as superb health plans, 401(k) program, and generous sick/personal and vacation time. The Assistant Director of Marketing's starting salary range will be $97,240 - 109,395 and will depend on qualifications and experience.
