About the Role: After-School Band Teacher
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate After-School Band Teacher to lead engaging and skill-building music sessions for students. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching instrumental music and a strong commitment to fostering student growth, confidence, and teamwork through music education. This part-time role involves leading band practice sessions after school several days per week.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Instruction Delivery
- Lead engaging lesson plans that cultivate students' creativity and technical skills.
- Assess student work, provide feedback, and maintain high expectations for artistic excellence.
- Establish a welcoming, organized, and inspiring after school learning environment.
Student Engagement & Support
- Create opportunities to showcase student music abilities within the school and community.
- Provide input on future arts and music programming.
- Assist in establishing partnerships with local musicians or organizations.
Family & Community Engagement
- Communicate regularly with families about student progress, celebrating successes and addressing challenges proactively.
- Participate in school events and outreach efforts to build strong relationships with families and the community.
- Help students and families see the relevance of music in their everyday lives, future careers, and societal challenges.
Ideal Candidate Experiences
- Experience teaching music, preferably in a secondary setting.
- Strong understanding of a variety of music techniques.
- Experience organizing student music showcases or performances.

Compensation
The After-School Band Teacher needs to be available 8-10 per week to support the needs of this programming. We estimate this means about 40-50 hour per semester. We will be offering a semester stipend for this position ranging from $4000-5000.
