The Senior Manager, Software Quality Assurance is responsible for overseeing the entire software testing process within Cellanome, ensuring high quality standards are met by leading and managing a team of testers, developing testing strategies, implementing automation frameworks, and collaborating with development teams to identify and resolve quality issues throughout the software development lifecycle.
Essential Duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Develop and execute comprehensive software testing strategies aligned with company goals and product roadmaps.
- Establish quality assurance standards and best practices for testing methodologies.
- Define testing metrics and KPIs to track the effectiveness of testing processes.
- Lead and mentor a team of software testers, including instrument control, image and data analysis, and cloud-based analysis and visualization software.
- Recruit and hire qualified testing professionals.
- Assign testing tasks and manage workload distribution across the team.
- Design and implement robust testing processes for various software development phases (functional, regression, performance, usability).
- Develop and maintain test cases, test scripts, and test data.
- Oversee the execution of test plans and ensure timely completion of testing activities.
- Evaluate and implement automated testing frameworks and tools to optimize testing efficiency.
- Foster a culture of continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) testing practices.
- Establish a robust defect tracking system to identify, prioritize, and manage software defects.
- Collaborate with development teams to resolve identified issues and ensure timely bug fixes.
- Communicate testing progress, risks, and quality metrics to project stakeholders, including product owners, developers, and senior management.
- Proactively identify and address potential quality issues impacting project timelines and deliverables.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of experience in technology, software development, and testing with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 4 years experience.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience as lead or manager of a software testing group.
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and testing methodologies (black-box, white-box, regression, performance).
- Expertise in test automation frameworks and tools (such as Selenium).
- Experience with defect tracking systems (Jira) and documentation tools (Confluence).
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively convey technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proven track record of delivering high-quality and complex software products within deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
We provide competitive total compensation packages, including base pay, benefits, and equity. In California, the estimated base salary range for this position is $140,800 - $211,200/year. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
