Java|Python - Backend Engineer

The Team:
Our team is responsible for building the new AI tools that will boost the Celonis’ Process Intelligence and Process Mining solution. Process Mining is the technology that allows businesses to capture user interaction (data), so they can analyze how people get work done, and how they can do it even better, but just imagine the possibilities if we add the use of AI. We own all the related components, e.g. the desktop client, the related backend services, the data processing capabilities, and Studio frontend applications.

The Role:

Celonis is looking for a Backend Software Engineer to build new features and increase the reliability of our solution. While you would be focused on the Java backend, you may also contribute to developing our Angular frontend, so expertise in Java, Spring (Boot) and Python is required but knowledge of Angular is a plus.

The work you’ll do:

• Take independent responsibility for large pieces of work throughout the stages of development
• Develops maintainable and reliable software applications based on a work description that you will help define
• Document procedures, and concepts, and share knowledge within the team.
• Able to complete most daily tasks with little guidance
• Handle requests from customer support finding the right technical solution

The qualifications you need:

• 3+ years of professional experience building Java applications
• 2+ years of professional experience building Python applications
• Passion for clean and understandable code
• Good knowledge of Spring Boot, and Angular is desirable
• Experience with Open API will be a plus
• Familiar with containerization technologies (i.e. Docker)
• Experience in REST APIs and/or distributed microservice architecture
• Experience in writing and setting up tests (unit and integration tests)
• Nice to have: experience in monitoring and log analysis capabilities (i.e. DataDog)
• Strong communication skills (English is a must)
