Senior Software Engineer - Release Infrastructure

New York, US, New York

We're Celonis, the global leader in Process Mining technology and one of the world's fastest-growing SaaS firms. We believe there is a massive opportunity to unlock productivity by placing data and intelligence at the core of business processes - and for that, we need you to join us.

The Team:

The Application Delivery team, part of the Reliability & Developer Experiences (RDE) org at Celonis, builds the platforms, pipelines, and tools that power software delivery across the company. Our mission is to empower engineering teams to ship code with speed and confidence, while maintaining a high bar for availability, security, and quality.

We partner closely with infrastructure, SRE, testing, and application teams to create a seamless, scalable, and resilient developer experience.

The Role:

Why This Role Matters:  As a Senior Software Engineer (Release Infrastructure), you’ll take ownership of core systems that impact hundreds of engineers. You'll help application teams to improve time to production, reduce developer friction, and ensure reliability at scale. This is a high-impact role with visibility across engineering and leadership.

You’ll help define the direction of our internal platform and play a key role in shaping how features are launched at Celonis.

The Work You’ll Do:

  • Accelerate delivery: Lead efforts to reduce Time to Prod across all services by improving automation and tooling.
  • Build for impact: Design and implement developer-facing infrastructure that reduces friction and improves software quality across Celonis’s engineering teams.
  • Shape the roadmap: Partner with senior engineering leadership to define the vision and roadmap for Celonis’ internal developer platform.
  • Drive adoption: Lead initiatives to expand GitOps, Infrastructure as Code, and self-service patterns across engineering teams.
  • Feature flags approach: Help scale feature flag-based deployment strategies to enable controlled, reliable, progressive rollouts.
  • Scale reliability: Enhance observability, incident response, and deployment safety across Celonis’s software stack.
  • Own what you build: Take ownership of critical systems—from concept to rollout to support—in partnership with SRE, Platform Infrastructure, and Product teams.

The Qualifications You Need:

We care more about your ability to solve problems and build great tools than a checklist of technologies. That said, some must-haves for success in this role:

  • 5+ years of experience in backend, DevOps, and/or platform engineering roles.
  • Experience as a full stack engineer, working end to end
  • Strong programming skills in at least one modern language (e.g. Python, Go, Java).
  • Solid understanding of modern cloud-native systems (especially containers and Kubernetes).
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and monitoring.
  • Proven ability to lead projects or own critical systems in production.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • This position is not available now or in the future for immigration visa sponsorship

Nice-to-Haves (Not Dealbreakers) Experience with any of the following will help you ramp up quickly:

  • Experience in building highly available, scalable, distributed systems in a Microservices based architecture
  • GitOps and deployment tools (ArgoCD, Kargo, Flux, Helm, Kustomize)
  • IaC tools (Terraform, Pulumi)
  • Observability platforms (Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus)
  • Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Developer platform or internal tooling experience in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong understanding of SDLC practices
  • Hands-on experience with IasC, GitOps, CI/CD
  • Working knowledge of Containerization, network protocols, encryption, and security.
  • Experience operating Kubernetes clusters in production across multiple infrastructures.

As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
