Product Operations Analyst

The Team:

Product Operations is a team in our Product & Engineering organization reporting into our Product Chief Operating Officer. The main objective of Product Operations is to help our product management function scale well. We do so by establishing consistent cross-functional practices and frameworks (e.g. for roadmap planning, product launches, feature requests, ..), executing programs & projects to enable product managers to manage their tasks with low friction, as well as facilitating and aggregating business, customer, and market data & insights.

The Role:

This role will be focused on performing analytical work but also about “landing product analytics in the product organization” and making a difference in how every product team utilizes quantitative insights in their day-to-day operations. No task is too large or too small, because this role will be a key contributor for building an analytic rigor within the product organization that will have a far reaching impact for all Celonis. There already is an experienced analytics team in the engineering organization that is owning and managing all product signals to be used by the company, and that is driving the focus on business metrics top down within the Product & Engineering organization. This role will focus on the jobs to be done to establish and support the processes needed to accomplish that outcome.

What’s unique about the Role:
Besides the exciting mission of the role and the huge impact it can make on helping PMs make better product decisions, there are two unique aspects:

1. Work with our own product: We believe in “drinking your own champagne” and use our own product for analytics. This way, you not only become an expert user of the Celonis platform which is the core of Celonis’ success, but you also directly work with the engineers and product managers that are building this platform. This gives you unique and broad insights into all aspects of our software and gives you great flexibility in your career path.
2. Steep learning curve: Research indicates that  70% of an individual’s development is through informal, on-the-job experiences. This role gives you great exposure to challenge your ideas & proposals with senior folks, get feedback & advice, and learn from them. Ultimately, it sets you up for professional growth.

The work you’ll do:

• Develop and maintain product focused dashboards 
• Implement improvements for some analytics assets
• Work with all the PMs to ensure the right analytics signals are gathered
• Embed analytics at the heart of the product teams decision making  
• Be on top of new features / feature flags and make sure that they are reflected in our adoption measurement
• Put a process in place to embed analytics requirements gathering in the product development lifecycle
• Establish an effective feedback loop between the product organization and the engineering analytics team for requirements gathering

The qualifications you need:

• 2+ years of experience in working in a global team (virtual and multi-location)
• 1+ years of domain experience in working within or with product management
• 2+ years of program or project management experience
• Operational rigor and track record of cross-functional stakeholder project management and execution
• Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical individuals
• Strong verbal and written communication skills (including business fluent English)

Nice to have but not necessary:

• Familiarity with financial modeling 
• Experience with visualization tools (ex. Tableau, looker) 
• Understanding of SQL and data models

You think strategically and act long-term (= what are the next big things we need to improve in the org) while being pragmatic, hands-on, and delivering quick wins on the way. 
• Project management: Excellent project management skills are the baseline. Most of the processes we implement are cross-departmental (e.g. the product launch management process runs across 40 departments). You cut through complexity and structure a complex project into its major building blocks. You create the best project setup and governance to achieve success.
• Domain knowledge (not a knock-out criterion, but a plus): You have a proven track record in Product Operations and have successfully established some of the most fundamental processes (e.g. processes for roadmapping, product discovery, early customer adoption, customer co-innovation etc.).
