Role Summary:
We’re seeking a Senior Software Engineer focused on AI and LLM. In this role, you will report to the you will report to the Engineering Manager for Exposure Management — a team responsible for building high-impact product features and workflows that sit on top of the Censys platform. You'll collaborate with a team of experts dedicated to understanding customers’ business needs and securing their cloud environments. By fostering a culture of learning and collaboration, we aim to build secure infrastructures tailored to our customers' unique requirements. You will play a critical role in bringing AI-driven experiences to life. Your work will directly shape how users interact with our platform by making it smarter, faster, and more intuitive.
What You’ll Do:
- Rapidly prototype and deploy AI features that enhance search, recommendations, and automation.
- Leverage AI to reduce friction in workflows, personalize interactions, and surface key insights.
- Develop AI-driven analytics and automation tools that help users make better decisions, faster.
- Collaborate closely with product, design, and frontend engineers to build AI-powered UI components that feel native, intuitive, and useful.
What You’ll Bring:
- Backend / AI Development
- Strong experience with Python (FastAPI) for backend API development.
- Proficiency in designing and integrating AI-powered features and services.
- Experience building and maintaining production-ready backend systems, including model integration and API orchestration.
- Ability to architect end-to-end backend solutions, from data handling to deployment and scaling.
- AI Integration in UI
- Experience integrating AI-driven search, recommendations, or automation tools in frontend applications.
- Evaluations
- Familiarity with RAGAS, LangSmith, and Regression Testing
- Prototyping Speed & Agility
- Ability to rapidly build, test, and iterate on AI-driven features in a fast-paced development environment.
- CI/CD & DevOps
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, testing automation, and deployment best practices for AI applications.
- Cross-Team Collaboration
- Strong ability to work with product managers, designers, and engineers to develop AI-driven features that enhance user experience.
- Prompt Engineering

- Advanced AI & ML Knowledge
- Experience with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), vector search, or LLM fine-tuning.
- Understanding of embedding models and AI-driven analytics.
- Performance Optimization
- Experience optimizing AI models for real-time interaction in the browser or on the frontend.
- Security & Compliance
- Experience in secure AI model deployment, particularly in cybersecurity or sensitive data environments.
- Frontend Performance & AI UX
- Understanding of frontend performance optimizations related to AI-driven experiences.
- Infrastructure & Deployment (IaC + Helm)
- Experience with Helm for managing Kubernetes deployments.
- Strong understanding of Kubernetes networking, scaling, and monitoring for AI-driven services.
Compensation & Other Info
For high cost of living areas (San Francisco / Seattle / NYC), the expected salary range for this position is $202,000 to $227,000 USD, plus bonus eligibility and equity.
For high cost of living areas and all other locations, the compensation will be decided based on factors including, but not limited to, individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process (including skills and prior relevant experience, potential impact, and scope of role), market demands, and specific work location. The listed range is a guideline, and the range for this role may be modified. For roles that are available to be filled remotely, the pay range is localized according to employee work location by a factor of between 83% and 100% of range.
