Location: Rose City, MI Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (7 PM - 7 AM) Employment Type: Full-Time or Part-Time Available
Job Description: We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Home Health Aide to assist a 77-year-old female living independently in Rose City. She requires 24/7 care due to previous fractures in both arms and legs, a fractured jaw, and a closed head injury (CHI). She ambulates with a walker but is a high fall risk and requires assistance with daily activities. Additionally, she is on oxygen for COPD and has limited use of her right arm.
The ideal candidate will provide overnight care and assistance, ensuring her safety and comfort during the night shift. She lives in a small apartment with one cat, so applicants should be comfortable around pets.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with mobility and transfers to prevent falls.
- Provide basic personal care, including hygiene, toileting, and dressing.
- Monitor and assist with oxygen therapy as needed.
- Prepare light snacks or drinks if requested.
- Offer companionship and reassurance throughout the night.
- Assist in positioning and turning to prevent discomfort.
- Document and report any changes in condition.
- Respond to any emergencies promptly.
- Perform duties outlined in patient's plan of care
- Monitor patient condition by observing physical and mental condition, intake and output, and exercise
- Observe the client’s physical, mental, and emotional conditions/ document and record changes in the patient condition
- Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy patient environment
- Assist with daily living activities, such as dressing or taking a bath
- Adhere to professional standards, facility care policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements
Qualifications:
- CNA, HHA, or equivalent experience in home care preferred.
- Experience working with fall-risk patients, oxygen therapy, and mobility assistance is highly desirable.
- Ability to assist with personal care and provide compassionate support.
- Must be reliable, patient, and attentive to the client’s needs.
- Comfortable working in a home with a cat.
- Ability to work independently and follow care plans.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to utilize computers/tablets and computer software
- Strong patient service skills
- Attention to detail and ability to carefully follow protocols and rules regarding the patient's care
- Ability to address minor medical issues
