Registered Nurse Professional Development Specialist (RNPD)

Farmington Hills, Michigan, United States

Position Summary

The RNPD Specialist is a dual-focus leadership role designed for an experienced nurse who thrives on both clinical excellence and strategic organizational growth. You will divide your expertise between shaping the future of our nursing workforce—through high-impact education and retention strategies—and providing direct clinical leadership for a dedicated subset of client cases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Professional Development: Design and deliver evidence-based training, including tracheostomy and ventilator certifications for at least 15 nurses per month.
  • Retention Strategy: Analyze turnover data and implement strategic initiatives to reduce voluntary nursing turnover.
  • Clinical Leadership: Manage a caseload of up to 10 in-home supervisory visits per week, overseeing care plans (POCs), assessments, and field staff supervision.
  • Quality & Compliance: Ensure all educational programs and clinical documentation align with state, federal, and accrediting agency regulations.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work alongside the Director of Nursing and Healthcare Team to optimize workflows and adopt new clinical technologies.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) required; MSN with a focus on Education or Leadership preferred.
  • Licensure: Current, unrestricted RN license in the State of Michigan.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3+ years of nursing experience. Background in clinical education, curriculum design, or nurse residency programs is highly preferred.
  • Certification: NPD-BC certification preferred (or a commitment to obtain it within the first year).
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, G Suite, and Electronic Health Records (EHR).
  • Physical: Ability to travel for in-home visits and lift/push/pull up to 30 lbs.

Why Join Us?

As an RNPD Specialist, you aren’t just a clinician; you are a mentor and a strategist. You will have a direct hand in reducing nurse burnout, improving patient outcomes, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and support.

While performing the duties of this job, physical requirements such as bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, or pulling up to 30 pounds may be required. This role will require sitting most of the day as well as walking and standing periodically.
