Role overview

CarGurus is looking for a Business Operations Intern to join our Inventory and Data team. In this role you will gain hands-on experience supporting strategy, analytics, and cross-functional initiatives at a dynamic technology company. You will work alongside leaders and teams across Sales, Marketing, Business Development, Finance, Product, and Engineering to help evaluate business opportunities, organize priorities, and turn data into actionable insights.

As a Business Operations Intern,  you will join an 11-week Summer Internship Program designed to give you hands-on experience, expand your professional network, and build core industry skills. This full-time opportunity (40 hours per week) runs from June through August 2027. CarGurus operates on a hybrid working model, and candidates should expect to work out of our Boston, MA office 60% of the time (approximately three days per week).

What you'll do

• Support strategic planning and business operations initiatives for the Inventory vertical.
• Analyze business performance and operational metrics to identify opportunities and areas for improvement.
• Help to build presentations, reports, and data-driven narratives that help leaders make informed decisions.
• Help coordinate cross-functional projects, track milestones, and communicate updates to stakeholders.
• Contribute to operating rhythms, KPI reporting, and governance processes that promote clarity and accountability.
• Potential opportunities to research customer, dealer, competitive, and market trends to support strategic recommendations.
• Assist with projects related to the commercialization of CarGurus’ Inventory products and capabilities.
• Organize complex information and translate findings into clear, concise recommendations.
• Participate in team meetings and collaborate with partners across the organization to learn how a technology business operates.

What you'll bring

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Business, Data Analytics, Operations, Marketing or a related field, with eligibility to complete a full-time internship.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
• Interest in business strategy, operations, analytics, technology, or the automotive industry.
• Ability to organize information, manage multiple priorities, and follow projects through to completion.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present ideas clearly.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; experience with data visualization or business intelligence tools is a plus.
• Comfort working collaboratively with people across different teams and levels of the organization.
• Curiosity, initiative, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn.
• Experience with SQL, Salesforce, or financial modeling is a plus, but not required.

The displayed range represents the expected hourly rate for this position.
