
Software Support Technician (Boston, MA)

The primary function of a Software Support Technician is to program and configure security-related systems as required by the customer and directed by the manager.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
Complete software Installation and configuration for various access control, video surveillance, and alarm intrusion systems. Provide integration support for customers’ existing systems with their access and video security solutions. Provide support to CGL internal teams that repair and maintain customer systems; perform regular maintenance to prevent breakdowns; diagnose problems with customers computerized systems and determine the course of action and perform the repair. Contacts customers prior to the date of scheduled software related projects to verify coordinate needed information and or personnel.
What you will do as a Software Support Technician:
• Provide software Installation, integration and configuration and service of access control systems including but not limited to Software House, Genetec, S2 netbox and net controllers, Openpath
• Installation, integration and service of various video surveillance solutions including but not limited to Genetec, American Dynamics, Exacq, Milestone
• Configure and program network architecture to support access and video solutions
• Perform IP network configuration for camera and access control systems
• Maintain certifications for camera and access control systems
• Provide customer system training What you bring to the table
• Proven ability to interact with all levels and departments including corporate project stakeholders, associated design disciplines, and construction/system integration contractors
• The ability to work closely with Information Technology professionals to ensure project and customer expectations are met
• Strong oral/written communication and interpersonal skills
• Must be a responsible, self-motivated, self-starter, personable and well organized
• Superior customer service skills to deal with both internal and external customers
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Must be able to effectively handle stressful situations
• Must be able to read and effectively interpret general business documentation
• Associate is required to stand, walk, climb, sit and use hands and fingers
• Reaching, grasping, and carrying activities also required
• Valid and current driver’s license
Experience and Education:
• 5-7 years’ experience preferred
• Manufacturer certifications such as Software House, Genetec, and/or Exacq are desirable
• Requires ability to pass CORI check and obtain MA certificate of clearance
• Pass background check, drug screen, and clean driving record required
• Familiarity with SQL programming language is a plus
• Background in IT networking and system support is a plus
