Role

This position is part of a dynamic team at the forefront of implementing designs to support the next generation of cyber network operations. The role presents unique opportunities, such as regular customer interaction to iterate, streamline, and multiply platform capabilities to meet customer objectives of broad deployment and exceptional flexibility. You will be expected to provide architectural design leadership, systems design leadership, and elegant solutions to pressing operational challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Participate and lead design and architecture of cloud-based systems
  • Design, develop, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to streamline code deployments
  • Deploy, manage, and maintain Kubernetes clusters across development, staging, and production environments
  • Monitor and optimize workloads running in Kubernetes, using tools like Helm for package management and deploying microservices at scale
  • Create and manage infrastructure using tools such as Terraform, Crossplane, CloudFormation, or Ansible
  • Implement networking policies, load balancing, and service discovery within Kubernetes using tools like Istio Service Mesh
  • Implement and monitor system performance, availability, and security using tools like Prometheus and Grafana
  • Deploy and maintain cloud infrastructure on platforms like AWS and Azure
  • Manage environments and configurations with tools like Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, and Kustomize
  • Facilitate delivery and deployment of operational capabilities
  • Ensure compliance and implement best practices for infrastructure security, including identity management, encryption, and backup policies
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of infrastructure, processes, and policies
  • Promote DevOps practices across teams to enhance agility, reliability, and performance
  • Contribute to sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives in an Agile environment
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices to keep our solutions cutting-edge
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production incidents, minimizing downtime and ensuring system reliability

Required Qualifications

  • Current Top Secret security clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, IT, or a related technical discipline. (Degree requirement can be met with four years of hands-on experience in a DevOps Engineering or similar full-time position.)
  • More than 8 years of industry experience as a DevOps engineer or similar role
  • Hands-on experience managing Kubernetes clusters in production environments
  • Experience working with Helm charts for packaging applications
  • Extensive experience designing and implementing solutions on Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Ability to collaborate as a team but execute independently
  • Thrives in a high-trust, adaptable team environment
  • Experience leading the design of new capabilities
  • Strong experience with CI/CD tools like GitLab CI, Jenkins, Github Actions
  • Experience with CI/CD GitOps based deployments
  • Proficient in containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Podman)
  • Proficient in Linux-based development environments (e.g., Ubuntu, RedHat Enterprise Linux, or derivatives)
  • Experience with a version control code repository, such as GitLab
  • Understanding of Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools (Terraform preferred)
  • Proficient with container orchestration using Kubernetes
  • Experience with monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK for Kubernetes environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • SCI eligibility
  • Experience in the Cyber Operations Domain
  • Familiarity with Istio for service mesh management
  • Experience with Kubernetes operators and custom resource definitions (CRDs)
  • Knowledge of DevSecOps practices and integrating security tools with Kubernetes
  • Exposure to cloud-native development and serverless solutions (e.g., AWS Lambda)
  • Familiarity with Agile development practices and the Scaled Agile Framework
  • Familiarity with Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) utilities
  • Experience with VPN technologies such as IPSec, Nebula, OpenVPN, or Wireguard
