Program Manager, Investigator and Community Programs (Biohub NY)
The Chan Zuckerberg Biohub New York (CZ Biohub NY) (https://www.czbiohub.org/ny/) is an independent nonprofit research institute that brings together three powerhouse universities - Columbia University, The Rockefeller University, and Yale University - into a single collaborative technology and discovery engine. CZ Biohub NY itself supports some of the brightest, boldest engineers, data scientists, and biomedical researchers to investigate the fundamental mechanisms underlying disease and develop new technologies that will lead to actionable diagnostics and effective therapies. We are guided by our values of scholarly excellence; disruptive innovation; hands-on engineering/hacking/building; partnership and collaboration; open communication and respect; inclusiveness; and opportunity for all.
Our Vision
- We pursue large scientific challenges that cannot be pursued in conventional environments
- We enable individual investigators to pursue their riskiest and most innovative ideas
- The technologies developed at CZ Biohub facilitate research by scientists and clinicians at our home institutions and beyond
Diversity of thought, ideas, and perspectives are at the heart of CZ Biohub Network and enable disruptive innovation and scholarly excellence. We are committed to cultivating an organization where all colleagues feel inspired and know their work makes an important contribution.
The Opportunity
CZ Biohub New York has an intramural research program focused on its mission to harness the immune system for early detection, prevention and treatment of disease. The Biohub also has an extramural research program that provides unrestricted funds to faculty members at our three partner universities - Columbia University, The Rockefeller University, and Yale University - to pursue their most exciting, risky, and innovative ideas to address that same mission.
These intramural and extramural researchers are supported through our CZ Biohub NY Investigator Program. Awardees of our research programs will become part of our vibrant, collaborative, and supportive research community, gaining access to cutting-edge tools, expertise, and training opportunities. The backbone of our community and a primary engine of collaboration is found in the Biohub Investigator twice monthly meetings, monthly seminars, and ad hoc symposia or engagements, with the goal of establishing a safe environment that encourages people to freely discuss and seek feedback on early ideas, preliminary data, and confounding roadblocks, and where everyone can ask naïve, curiosity-driven questions.
CZ Biohub NY will also be engaging in Community Programs in Manhattanville with several external operators, centered around activities related to our scientific mission that can advance talent locally. In partnership with NYC and NY State, our Community Programs may include sponsorship and/or activation of internships, STEM programs for science and AI/ML, Science days/fairs, and more. We’ve identified 3-5 specific initial programs and operators we will work with to inspire and develop the next generation of scientists and technologists.
We’re looking for an enthusiastic, organized professional to serve as a Program Manager on our team. Reporting onsite directly to the VP, Organizational Growth and Strategy, the Program Manager will lead both the Investigator Program and our Community Programs. The Program Manager will also manage coordination with our Community Program operators for execution of our sponsorships, including continued sourcing, allocating, and transferring of funds for them, capturing outcomes and reporting, and engagement with Biohub team members to participate in the programs as appropriate.
The Program Manager will play a critical role in bringing our CZ Biohub NY culture to life, shaping the Investigator Program, our Community Programs, and our collective ability to take big risks to achieve our mission.
