Echocardiography Technician (Echo Tech)

Completion from an AMA accredited training program in 2 D, color flow and M Mode echocardiography, and CPR Certification. Register echosonagrapher is required. Registered Echosonographer and BLS certification required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED required. Completion from an AMA accredited training program in 2 D, color flow and M Mode echocardiography, and CPR Certification. Register echosonagrapher  is  required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS:  Registered Echosonographer and BLS certification required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:  Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos, and to write correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Note: (other duties may be assigned, deleted or changed at any time, at the discretion of management, formally, or informally, either verbally or in writing).

  1. Perform echocardiograms and verify completeness of patient examination prior to submission to Cardiologist.
  2. Maintain diagnostic equipment in good working order and notify Supervisor or Director of any equipment in need of repairs.
  3. Record inventory and order supplies as needed.
  4. Distribute and file all reports. 
  5. Demonstrate ability to perform quantitative measurements of data obtained from the on mode tracings.
  6. Take verbal orders for diagnostic testing from physicians and record orders in chart.
  7. Utilizes order entry system to access and complete exams.
  8. Compile echo cardiology reports for physicians. Properly label and organize paperwork and/or tapes, CD for physician review.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate  

COMPENSATION: $38-52/hr. Variable based on qualifications, experience, and other interview factors.
