Job Summary:

As a Research Data Associate at Chatham, you will play a vital role in upholding our reputation for accurate, high-quality work, deep market expertise, and attention to detail by managing, optimizing, and leveraging our data assets. Representing Chatham and maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, you will gather internal and external data, improve data flow and usability, and collaborate with the Research team and other Chatham teams to unlock valuable insights.  

This position requires strong analytical skills, a collaborative spirit, and a passion for data and research, as you will interact daily with colleagues across the organization and present your findings internally. The ideal candidate is curious, driven, eager to contribute to the growth and evolution of our business, and possesses expertise in data analysis, visualization, and a passion for data-driven decision-making to expand and improve our research practices.

Responsibilities: 

  • Data management & governance: Develop and maintain processes for data collection, storage, and management. 
  • Ensure data accuracy, quality, and consistency across various systems. 
  • Create and maintain data governance policies and procedures. 
  • Data flow optimization: Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies in current data pipelines and workflows. 
  • Design and implement improvements to data flow processes, ensuring efficient and reliable data delivery. 
  • Collaborate with internal teams to optimize data infrastructure. 
  • Collaboration & communication: Partner with internal teams to understand their data and provide ideas and solutions to utilize it. 
  • Communicate data insights and findings effectively both to technical and to non-technical audiences. 
  • Act as a data advocate within the organization, promoting collaboration and best-in-class practices. 
  • Data analysis & reporting: Conduct recurring and ad-hoc data analyses to identify trends, patterns, and insights. 
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to visualize economic and market data. 
  • Create custom analyses to answer specific business questions and support strategic initiatives. 
  • Data practice improvement: Research and recommend new data tools, technologies, and methodologies to enhance our data capabilities. 
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of best practices for data analysis, reporting, and visualization. 
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in data management and analytics. 

Qualifications: 

  • Proven experience (approximately 3-5+ years) in a data-focused role, such as Data Analyst or Business Intelligence Analyst. 
  • Strong understanding of data management principles, including data warehousing, data modeling. 
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience working with relational databases. 
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI). 
  • Familiarity with scripting languages for data manipulation and analysis (e.g., Python, R). 
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail. 
  • Ability to communicate complex data insights clearly and concisely. 
  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams. 
  • A genuine passion for data and its potential to drive business value. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience in commercial real estate or working with institutional real estate investors as clients. 
  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure). 
  • Knowledge of data mining and statistical analysis techniques. 
  • Experience with data governance frameworks and tools. 
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies.
