The Director, Content Strategy is a critical role to help us deliver on that brand promise. The individual is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive content strategy that aligns with business and marketing objectives, elevates and enhances brand presence, engages target audiences across geographies and market segments, and supports business growth. This individual will oversee the creation, repurposing, and distribution of our thought leadership and marketing content across all channels—digital, print, social media—ensuring a consistent and compelling narrative.
As a key leader on the Marketing & Communications team and reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, the individual will be responsible for helping bring the Chatham brand to life; maintaining meaningful client engagement; elevating the profiles of our spokespeople; supporting marketing campaigns; and powering our mission to improve our clients’ capital market outcomes.
The ideal candidate is highly adaptable and curious and brings a balance of leadership experience, an ability to navigate complex stakeholders/landscape, influence skills and a "roll up your sleeves" attitude. This person must be able to juggle multiple shifting priorities, work independently as well as manage a team, and synthesize a wide range of technical topics quickly, accurately and succinctly for distinct target audiences.

Strategic Planning
- Lead the creation of a robust data-driven content strategy that aligns with the company’s brand and business goals and is designed to engage and capture key target audiences.
- Map content to different stages of the buyer’s journey–a full funnel approach–ensuring the right content is delivered at the right time to drive engagement and conversion.
- Liaise with Communications and our PR team to take media opportunities into account during content strategy and planning.
- Implement SEO best practices and leverage AI tools to scale content production without compromising value and authenticity.
- Collaborate with Strategic Marketing on the strategy for targeted multi-channel marketing campaigns that fuel client acquisition and retention.
Content Production & Content Governance
- Manage content planning, production, calendar & workflow: Oversee editorial planning, project briefs, deadlines, process and production schedules to ensure timely publishing of all materials.
- Lead the creation of high-quality, engaging, and relevant content for various channels, including whitepapers, articles, blogs, videos, social media, emails, and event-related presentations.
- Develop SEO-driven content (blogs, website copy, webinars, etc.).
- Repurpose existing content into various formats (e.g., infographics, social media posts, podcast scripts, etc.).
- Provide guidance and oversight to internal and external copywriters, optimizing content to meet marketing objectives and ensuring adherence to best practices.
- Supervise the creation of all research-related and sales enablement content including fact sheets, pitchbooks, elevator pitches, Q&As, case studies, and asset videos.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Launch and lead the firm’s Content Committee/Editorial Board which provides subject matter input and guidance, as well as performs reviews, to ensure content aligns with business goals and resonates with the target audience.
Distribution & Optimization
- Oversee timely posting and delivery of content across relevant internal and external platforms including internal content library, video library, client portals, and public website.
- Communicate proactively with business and client engagement partners to maximize awareness and usage of materials.
- Optimize content for different platforms (LinkedIn, YouTube, newsletters, etc.) to maximize engagement.
- Collaborate with digital and marketing teams to optimize content for search visibility and performance.
- Collaborate with design on the most effective methods of packaging content including the visual aspects of storytelling.
- Guide PR to secure media placements and industry recognition.
- Ensure consistency in brand voice, messaging, and visual identity across all channels.
Analytics & Performance Optimization
- Set KPIs. Track and assess audience engagement across regions and channels. Monitor, analyze, and report on content performance metrics.
- Continuously refine content strategy based on performance data, insights, industry trends, and audience feedback.
- Proactively communicate and report to internal partners and use learnings to inform and refine the firm’s content strategy.
Team Leadership
- Manage and mentor a team of internal and/or external content managers, writers and content creators; utilize freelancers as needed.
Compliance & Quality
- Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory guidelines as well as firm standards for branding and tone.
- Ensure the final product meets quality standards and is well-optimized for the intended audience.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Strong grasp of the capital markets including alternative investments and the real estate and private equity market segments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, editing and storytelling skills.
- Ability to synthesize complex concepts into compelling narratives.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills, with superb cross-functional collaboration and project management skills, and the ability to align multiple stakeholders with, at times, competing priorities.
- Strong ability to manage people, process and projects.
- Data-orientation and proclivity for balancing quality with efficiency and scale.
- Ability to build strong relationships and influence individuals at multiple levels throughout the organization.
- Proficiency in content management systems (CMS), SEO tools, and analytics platforms, including AI-driven and content automation tools.
- Strong understanding of technical aspects of digital media production and ensuring projects meet technical requirements.
- Possess and promote a can-do attitude with a bias for action and results
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Journalism, Communications, English or related field; advanced degree a plus
- 15+ years of experience in editorial leadership roles in financial media/publishing, asset and investment management, private equity, and/or real assets alternative investments.
- Experience working across multiple print and digital mediums and working with multi-channel content distribution.
- 5+ years leading teams, agencies, and/or freelancers.
- Global content or marketing experience, including UK, EMEA, and APAC.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in campaign tracking, reporting, and ROI measurement.

For New York based candidates, the compensation range for the position is expected to be between $137,000- $195,000 annually. Total compensation, including base pay, discretionary individual bonus and company bonus, may be higher than range listed, depending on applicant’s skills, qualifications, and experience. Benefits include health insurance, life and disability insurance, 401k, EAP, paid holidays and paid time off.
