Partner Success Managers are responsible for protecting and growing Check’s revenue, which can only be accomplished through careful and thoughtful partner management. In this role, you'll serve as General Manager for a portfolio of 5-10 high priority partners. You’ll manage these partners by establishing and maintaining a communication cadence with your portfolio, and provide proactive reporting on their status internally.
We expect our team to roll up their sleeves and execute with a high degree of autonomy, sharing information and knowledge early and often with peers and stakeholders. You will work closely with cross-functional internal and external teams, including Sales, R&D, Marketing, Enablement, and others. Together, you'll identify trends, risks, and opportunities, and execute on targets with determination and precision.
Candidates ideal for this role are tenacious, goal-oriented, and experienced with building detailed plans with Partners/customers. You must have a knack for ruthless prioritization, and comfort operating in technical and commercially complex environments.
In this role, you will:
- Execute all phases of the post-sales Partner lifecycle, including ownership of a target, renewal negotiations, and account (partner) management
- Earn the trust of our Partners and build in-depth relationships by maintaining a complete understanding of their business goals and objectives across various stakeholders
- Consult on our Partners’ payroll business by investigating the root cause of blockers, outlining and selling Partners on the appropriate strategies to unblock inefficiencies and revenue, and creating strategic execution plans
- Outline mutual success metrics/KPIs with our Partners that align their and Check’s revenue/growth goals
- Become a product and industry expert, and act as a trusted advisor to ensure every Partner is leveraging the full value of Check
- Develop, execute, and maintain a communication cadence with your portfolio of Partners
- Inform cross-functional counterparts on focus areas relative to Partner needs and pain points
- Identify, clearly communicate, and manage risk throughout the year through proactive touchpoints and taking the lead in developing resolution strategies
- Partner with cross-functional teams to build appropriate communication plans including but not limited to releases, roadmap updates, compliance updates, and incident management
- Introduce and implement new products and features to your Partners, evaluate their success, and navigate feedback channels with them and Check’s Product team
Many backgrounds could fit this role, but ideal candidates will have most or all of the following:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, in a related field
- 5+ years of relevant work experience, including:
- Experience in the SaaS space - experience in the fintech or payroll space a plus
- Post-sales partner/account management or existing account growth experience
- Demonstrated success owning a portfolio of customer or partner relationships with complex technical/product needs
- Experience owning the full account lifecycle, with a track record of exceeding revenue targets, goals or quotas
- Empathy and genuine care for partners - you view their success as your own
- Ability to navigate the political landscape of our enterprise partner organizations, and to develop and expand meaningful relationships
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Flexibility, ability to adapt and learn quickly, and to capably balance multiple priorities and projects (internally and externally) in a fast-paced environment
- Fluency or familiarity with Check’s primary software applications i.e. Zendesk, Google Workspace, Notion, etc.
- Strong documentation muscle - you default to written record as a regular practice and maintain clean notes in tools like CRMs
- Enthusiasm for planning, adjusting, executing, winning, and celebrating as a team
- Ability to work from Check's offices in New York or San Francisco a minimum of 2 days per week
- Ability to travel as required, up to 25% of the time during busy periods, including to Check’s annual company retreat in Mexico each spring

The actual annual salary for this role is dependent on each candidate’s experience, qualifications, and work location. The expected base salary range in San Francisco or NYC is between $168,500 and $185,350, with a variable performance-based compensation target between $42,000 and $46,200.
