The Role:
We are hiring an OTC Accounting Manager to lead financial accounting for over-the-counter (OTC) payment flows, including customer funds management and state money-transmitter (MTL) reporting. This role is highly cross-functional, partnering with Compliance, Legal, Operations, & Product, to ensure every dollar is accounted for and reconciled. The ideal candidate brings deep technical accounting experience within fintech or payments and has a passion for building scalable controls.

Key Responsibilities:

OTC Accounting & Reporting

    • Own accounting for OTC transaction flows, including settlement & restricted cash movement.
    • Drive accurate revenue/cost recognition in accordance with U.S. GAAP.

Money Transmitter Licensing (MTL) Compliance

    • Administer state-by-state MTL reporting obligations, including timely regulatory filings.
    • Maintain and reconcile restricted cash balances in alignment with state requirements.

Customer Account Reconciliation

    • Lead daily & month-end reconciliations across customer ledgers, bank accounts, and escrow balances.
    • Investigate variances proactively and implement durable resolution controls.

Audit & Regulatory Support

    • Prepare schedules, narratives, and supporting documentation for audits and regulatory reviews.
    • Serve as a key partner to Compliance & Legal on licensing examinations.

Process Optimization

    • Design & improve OTC accounting workflows, strengthening control maturity.
    • Collaborate with Product & Engineering to enhance automation & reporting scalability.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA strongly preferred.
  • Six or more years of progressive accounting experience, including at least two years in payments, fintech, or financial services.
  • Solid command of OTC accounting frameworks or platform-based funds flows, including settlement, restricted cash, and customer funds accounting.
  • Familiarity with state MTL compliance, restricted cash rules, and regulatory reporting cycles.
  • Expertise in analyzing and validating large, complex datasets to identify discrepancies, trends, and patterns; experience leveraging tools like SQL or Power Query for automation and reconciliation is highly desirable.
  • Strong proficiency in spreadsheets (Google Sheets or Excel) for advanced data manipulation and modeling; ability to design scalable processes for data integrity and document quality assurance procedures across high-volume transactions.
  • Exceptional accuracy, organization, and ownership in a fast-moving environment, with a demonstrated ability to proactively identify and resolve discrepancies.
