What we are looking for:

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Freelance Production Assistant to support our fast-paced news environment. This role will be integral to the smooth operation of our daily production, working closely with our team to produce high-quality content for our broadcast and digital platforms. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a passion for business & tech news, a strong understanding of social media, and excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities:

· Guest Production:

o Research and identify potential guests for our news programs.

o Contact and coordinate with guests, including scheduling interviews and providing pre-interview information.

o Prepare briefing materials for anchors and producers.

o Assist with light research and fact-checking.

o Support the production team with various tasks as needed.

· Social Media:

o Assist in creating and scheduling social media content across various platforms (e.g., Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube).

o Monitor social media for trending topics and engagement opportunities.

Qualifications:

· Proven experience as a Production Assistant or in a related field, preferably in a news or media environment.

· Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.

· Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.

· Proficiency in social media platforms and content creation.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

· Basic video editing skills are a plus

For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in New York, Cheddar includes a reasonable estimate of the salary or hourly rate range for this role. This accounts for the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions; including but not limited to business or organizational needs, skill sets, experience and training, licensure, and certifications. 

A reasonable estimate of the current compensation is $25 an hour.
