School Psychologist

Job Summary:
The School Psychologist provides psychological evaluations for initial referrals and re-evaluation of Special Education students. Performs evaluations of the cognitive, academic and social-emotional development of students through the use of techniques such as non-biased testing, observation and clinical evaluation.
Essential Functions:
- Provides psychoeducation evaluations
- Completes psychoeducational reports including diagnostic interpretation and recommendations for placement
- Assists in screening, evaluating, recommending, and coordinating special services for students
- Communicates and works collaboratively with other staff members, professionals and parents
- Works with professionals to provide training and support
- Collaborates in writing Individual Educational Plans (IEP)
- Demonstrates continued professional development
- Documents services provided to students daily
- Participates in staff and family training activities
- Prepares and maintains case history records on individual students
- Complies with policies, regulations and procedures of Norristown Academy Charter School; communicates effectively with parents and work collaboratively with staff
- Displays high-level professional conduct and image at all times; establishes and maintains an acceptable attendance record; and participates in extra-curricular activities and/or leadership roles outside the classroom
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
- Master’s Degree in School Psychology from an accredited college or university
- One to four years of professional experience working in the field of child psychology
- Pennsylvania Criminal Record Check Clearance
- Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance
- FBI Criminal Background Clearance
Certificates/Licenses:
- Valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania School Psychologist Certificate
Demonstrated Knowledge of:
- The bias principals of child and adolescent psychology and related behavioral sciences
- Procedures and functions of a school system with regard to Special Education in the overall education of a student
- Working with teachers collaboratively
- All relevant Pennsylvania and Federal rules, statutes and regulations governing Special Education
- Response to Interventions (RTII)
- Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBS)
Demonstrated Ability to:
- Increase achievement by assessing barriers to learning and determining the best instructional strategies to improve learning
- Promote wellness and resilience by reinforcing communication and social skills, problem solving, anger management, self-regulation, self-determination and optimism
- Work with students and families to identify and address learning and behavior problems that interfere with school success
- Evaluate eligibility for Special Education services
- Support students’ emotional, social and behavioral health
- Collect and analyze data, make recommendations regarding accountability requirements as they affect student outcomes
