Product Designer (Website Experience)
Overview
Convene is seeking a Product Designer to support the implementation of the rebranded convene.com marketing website.
Marketing has developed the brand identity, visual direction, brand guidelines, and Figma designs for the new website experience. Product has developed the underlying CMS platform, reusable component library, and content management capabilities.
The Product Designer will partner with Marketing, Product, and Engineering to design additional website pages, translate approved creative direction into production-ready experiences, define responsive and interactive behavior, and support implementation through launch.
Objectives
- Translate approved marketing designs into production-ready, engineering-ready specifications.
- Design responsive layouts for mobile experiences.
- Define interaction behaviors not included within the original marketing designs, consistent with the approved brand guidelines.
- Support Product and Engineering by reviewing implementation, resolving design questions, & ensuring design quality.
- Partner with Marketing to design and refine additional website pages consistent with the approved brand direction.
Engagement
- Estimated commitment: Full-time (approximately 35–40 hours per week) for an initial three-month engagement, with the potential to extend through website launch if needed.
- Duration: Target start August 2026 for an initial three-month engagement.
- Availability: Must be available for collaboration during U.S. Eastern business hours to support Product, Engineering, and Marketing.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Product, Engineering, and Marketing throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
Page Design
Partner with Marketing and Product to design additional website pages that extend the approved brand experience, including:
- Creating new page layouts based on the brand guidelines
- Iterating on concepts in collaboration with Marketing
- Ensuring new pages are consistent with the existing design language
- Balancing user experience, business goals, and technical constraints
- Preparing approved page concepts for engineering implementation
Responsive Design
Complete responsive layouts for existing marketing designs, including:
- Mobile and tablet layouts
- Responsive behavior and breakpoints
- Content reflow
- Image treatments
Interaction Design
Define interface behaviors that are not represented in static mockups, including:
- Interactive states (hover, focus, active, loading, empty, and error states)
- Navigation and component interactions
- Animations and transitions
- Edge cases and expected user behavior
Design Specifications
Provide engineering-ready design specifications, including:
- Layout and visual standards (spacing, alignment, typography)
- Component behavior and interaction requirements
- Responsive behavior and edge cases
Design QA
Partner with Product & Engineering throughout implementation by:
- Review completed work against approved designs
- Identify visual inconsistencies
- Validate responsive behavior
- Ensure interaction patterns behave as intended
- Verify accessibility considerations where applicable
- Provide implementation throughout feedback prior to release
Product Partnership
Work closely with Product Management to:
- Clarify design intent and resolve implementation questions.
- Collaborate on new website pages.
- Recommend improvements to UI patterns and the design system.
Responsibilities Outside of Scope
The Product Designer is not expected to:
- Own information architecture or SEO strategy
- Conduct user research as part of this engagement
- Define CMS architecture or reusable component strategy
- Prioritize product roadmap or engineering work
- Own brand strategy, creative direction, marketing content, or copy
Product Management will own:
- Component strategy and CMS architecture
- Mapping marketing designs to reusable CMS components
- Feature prioritization
- Technical scope
- Product requirements
- Stakeholder alignment
Deliverables
- Responsive page designs.
- Engineering-ready specifications and interaction documentation.
- Design QA throughout implementation.
- Design support for additional website pages as needed.
Preferred Experience
The ideal candidate will have experience with:
- Designing digital experiences for lifestyle, hospitality, consumer, or premium brands
- Figma
- Responsive web and marketing website design
- Enterprise CMS platforms
- Design systems and reusable UI components
- Accessibility best practices
- Collaborating closely with Product Management and Engineering teams
