As the Engineering Leader Chile , you will lead the growth and management of our expanding engineering teams in our Chile location, overseeing delivery of strategic product initiatives, while representing Checkr's mission, vision, and values. Your responsibilities will extend beyond team building, focusing on aligning the efforts of people and teams towards the strategic objectives of the business. 

What you’ll do

  • Define and execute an aggressive hiring strategy to expand our engineering capacity in Chile.
  • Oversee the growth, development, and distributed delivery operations of engineering teams within Checkr.
  • Own specific core and strategically important product areas directly, while also supporting other engineering teams and business functions as needed.
  • Represent and advocate for Checkr's mission, vision, values, and business outcomes at the Chile office.
  • Bring customer centricity to your entire engineering team.
  • Foster cultural cohesiveness, inclusivity, and equitable representation in our Chile office as the most senior leader across all functions there.
  • Partner with product and business leaders to influence strategic direction.
  • Implement best in class engineering practices
  • Hire, mentor, and manage the performance of a diverse engineering leadership team.
  • Work across the engineering team to shape software development to meet Checkr's objectives and key results.


What you bring

  • 15+ years of experience in software engineering roles
  • 10+ years of experience leading engineering teams in an agile environment through customer centricity
  • Proven experience in a continuous delivery environment supporting modern engineering practices
  • Customer centricity: you understand that customer behavior and sentiment must be well understood to effectively build products for them; this can be understood both through data as well as qualitative discussions with customers
  • Proven success in building, leading, and growing a high-performance engineering team.
  • Experience in managing distributed delivery, team collaboration, and communication in a geographically diverse setting.
  • Experience managing managers, and setting up an engineering organization 
  • Strong alignment with Checkr’s mission and values, and the ability to convey these effectively to several teams.
  • Bias for Action: you proactively take initiative and deliver quick results in a fast-paced environment. Fail Fast Approach: you welcome experimentation and adapt quickly based on feedback
  • Data driven mindset to measure business impact. 
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to establish trust and work cooperatively with diverse groups. Fluent in both spoken and written English
  • Experience in managing strategic business outcomes in an engineering context.
  • Highly effective communicator with good people instincts - able to build trust and work well with a diverse group both internally and externally
  • Willingness to lead in a hands-on, high-performance environment
  • Organized, self-motivated and detail-oriented
  • High degree of humility and accountability
  • Advanced English communication skills - written and verbal

At Checkr, we believe a hybrid work environment strengthens collaboration, drives innovation, and encourages connection. Our hub locations are Denver, CO, San Francisco, CA, and Santiago, Chile.
