Checkr is looking for a Software Engineer II to help us bring fair background checks to the enterprise customers. Our work is the backbone of employing millions of workers across the country.
Our team’s mission is to provide the most accurate and comprehensive criminal records in the industry for customers all across the world. We’re hiring for a team that is focused on unifying the experiences we offer for all the background screening products Checkr offers for our US and international customers by providing common platform functionality to other Checkr teams. Our team will be split 70/30 doing backend / frontend work.
Responsibilities:
- Build and evolve software with an eye for building common platform functionality that other teams leverage in their work.
- As a P2 at Checkr, you will be cranking out a lot of code building out scalable, performant, and secure APIs.
- You will also need some frontend Skills to help build effective React.js components that can be used across Checkr.
- Design and improve the system architecture of our platform that powers Checkr’s Screening products.
- As a P2, you’ll work with more senior engineers to influence and realize our technical designs.
- As a member of a platform team, you’ll need to communicate effectively with engineers across Checkr who depend on the functionality you are building: they will be this team’s primary customers!
- Part of how you will communicate with those teams is through writing documentation about to interact with the functionality you are building, applications and good software practices.
- Implement CI/CD pipeline steps
- Version control (Git)
- Mentor and guide other software developers within the screenings organization.
- Help identify and solve bugs
What you bring:
- 3+ years of full-stack software development experience.
- Proficiency in the following languages: Ruby, Javascript (React.js), HTML, CSS, HTTP protocols, Regex
- Must haves:
- Solid understanding of Computer Science fundamentals such as relational databases, data structure and algorithms, Object Relational Mapping, REST APIs,
- Good development practices using Test Driven Development, Domain Driven Design, functional and object oriented programming.
- Nice to have:
- Experience with non-relational datastores (MongoDB, Redis)
- Experience with microservices (and patterns like event sourcing or API Gateways)
- Experience with Event Driven Architectures (using tools like Kafka, RabbitMQ, or SQS)
- Observability experience (using tools like Datadog, Grafana, or Splunk)
- AI experience
- A strong sense of ownership.
- Ability to collaborate with teammates and other stakeholders.
- An eagerness to learn, collaborate, improve, innovate, and have fun.

$41.259.000 - $48.540.000 CLP
