About the team/role
As a Senior Software Engineer on the Monetization team, you will be at the forefront of building the foundational pricing and billing systems that power Checkr’s global scale. You will design and enhance the platform architecture responsible for automating the entire quote-to-cash lifecycle, ensuring our infrastructure is flexible enough to support both current products and future expansions. This is a high-impact role where you’ll develop robust solutions that directly accelerate our speed to market and streamline how we monetize our core offerings.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure our monetization systems are seamlessly integrated and meet the highest standards of reliability, accuracy and performance. You will focus on building scalable platform solutions where your technical contributions have a direct line to the company's bottom line. If you thrive on solving complex problems and delivering mission-critical stability alongside a diverse team, we’d love to have you join us.
What you’ll do
- End-to-End Ownership: Lead the product development lifecycle for complex features—collaborating on ideation and design, executing implementation, and managing the release of mission-critical monetization systems.
- Strategic Partnership: Partner with cross-functional teams to architect new platform capabilities that bridge business requirements with technical scalability.
- Engineering Excellence: Design, develop, and maintain high-performance services, ensuring every deployment meets the highest standards for security, scalability, and financial accuracy.
- Systemic Reliability: Proactively partner with teams across the organization to identify architectural risks and prevent production incidents, ensuring the stability and integrity of our shared financial infrastructure.
- Technical Leadership: Act as a force multiplier by mentoring engineers both within the team and across the organization, fostering a culture of high-quality code and continuous learning.
What you bring
- Senior Backend Expertise: 5+ years of experience building scalable backend systems. You have strong proficiency in at least one modern language—ideally Ruby, Golang, or Python—and a deep understanding of CS fundamentals, including relational databases, ORMs, and RESTful APIs.
- Distributed Systems Mastery: You have a proven track record of designing and maintaining reliable distributed systems. You can navigate the trade-offs of microservices architecture and have hands-on experience with CI/CD, Pub/Sub systems, and RPC frameworks.
- Domain Modeling & Design: You excel at translating complex business requirements into elegant, robust domain models and system architectures that stand the test of time.
- Ownership & Engineering Craft: You take full-cycle ownership of your work, with a relentless focus on delivering clean, secure, and scalable code. You are driven by a curiosity to innovate and a desire to leave the codebase better than you found it.
- Collaborative Influence: You are a strong communicator who can build consensus across teams with varying technical expertise. You enjoy mentoring peers and sharing knowledge to elevate the engineering organization as a whole.
- An A-player mindset with a strong bias for action: you raise the bar, move with urgency, stay resilient through ambiguity, and take ownership to deliver meaningful outcomes
- Advanced English communication (written and verbal)
What you’ll get
- A fast-paced and collaborative environment
- Learning and development allowance
- Competitive cash and equity compensation, and opportunity for advancement
- 100% medical, dental, and vision coverage
- Up to $25K reimbursement for fertility, adoption, and parental planning services
