What You Will Do
The Manager, Supplier Quality is responsible for executing and advancing the company’s supplier quality and raw material risk management programs across a global supply chain. This role leads supplier onboarding, audit execution, and ongoing supplier performance management for protein and ingredient suppliers, ensuring alignment with company standards, regulatory requirements, and brand expectations. This role partners closely with Procurement, R&D, and Manufacturing teams to support supplier selection, qualification, and continuous improvement initiatives. As a key field-facing leader, this role requires extensive domestic and international travel to assess supplier capabilities, build strong relationships, and ensure consistent execution of food safety and quality programs across the supply base.
Responsibilities
- Supplier Management & Risk Oversight
- Support on-site supplier approval, onboarding, and audit activities for protein and ingredient suppliers, including slaughter facilities, ensuring alignment with company food safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
- Serve as the primary FSQA contact for suppliers, managing day-to-day performance and leading resolution of quality and food safety issues.
- Execute mock traceability exercises across protein suppliers to validate traceability, lot tracking, and documentation integrity.
- Assess supplier capabilities across protein types, specifications, and lean points to support sourcing decisions and risk mitigation.
- Lead supplier-related investigations, ensuring timely root cause analysis, corrective actions, and appropriate escalation of risks.
- Monitor supplier performance, identifying trends, emerging risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Cross-Functional Partnership & Supplier Integration
- Collaborate with Manufacturing Partners to support trials of new suppliers, proteins, and process changes.
- Align with Regulatory & Quality Systems on supplier requirements, documentation, TraceGains workflows, and CAPA processes.
- Partner with Quality Compliance to identify and address supplier-driven trends impacting CPM and product performance.
- Support supplier-related third-party claims programs and audits, including animal welfare, sustainability, and regenerative agriculture.
- Coordinate supplier-related considerations for ingredient testing, protein tempering, and material handling processes.
- Program Development & Continuous Improvement
- Create and support implementation of supplier quality programs, including specifications, protein tempering standards, and supply chain best practices.
- Drive improvements for internal and external supplier documentation, lot tracking, and recordkeeping to strengthen traceability and audit readiness.
- Identify gaps and risks within the supplier network and lead execution of improvement initiatives.
- Support development and implementation of supplier standards and documentation to ensure consistency across the supply base.
- Develop, implement, and manage supplier re-auditing processes to ensure effectiveness, consistency, and timely execution
- Support advancement of raw material testing programs aligned with company standards and evolving risk profiles.
Who You Are
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in food safety or supplier quality within the USDA-FSIS regulated meat and poultry industry. Experience in slaughter or primary processing environments preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of USDA-FSIS regulations is required; working knowledge of FDA food regulations is preferred.
- Strong experience with HACCP, FSMA, and GFSI-recognized audit schemes.
- Strong understanding of raw material risk, supplier specifications, and protein variability
- Familiarity with supplier management systems such as TraceGains or similar.
- Strong communication and relationship management skills, with the ability to influence suppliers and drive corrective actions.
- Demonstrated ability to operate independently, prioritize effectively, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Animal Science, Microbiology, or related field preferred.
- Ability to travel 50–70%, including domestic and international travel.

Salary Range Opportunity:
- The salary range for this role is $115,000 - $120,000 + 20% annual bonus

- Individual pay rate decisions are based on several factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to peers at the company
