We are seeking a strategic, hands-on Director of Business Intelligence to lead our data and analytics function. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Director of Business Intelligence will oversee dashboard development, client and portfolio analytics, and firmwide reporting that empowers decision-makers at all levels – from client-facing advisors to executive leadership. This role blends technical expertise with financial services acumen and plays a critical role in enhancing advisor productivity, client outcomes, and operational scale.

Primary Responsibilities:

Analytics Leadership & Strategy

  • Drive the development of analytics frameworks, ensuring best practices in data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Serve as the primary contact for complex data requests, prioritizing and delegating tasks to meet the needs of senior leadership and operational teams.
  • Continuously monitor trends in analytics and technology, evaluating new tools and approaches for potential adoption.

Business Intelligence & Dashboarding

  • Lead the creation of intuitive dashboards that provide real-time visibility into KPIs like AUM flows, client retention, advisor productivity, fee billing.
  • Ensure dashboards and reports support users across all levels – from advisors to executive teams.
  • Oversee the maintenance of standardized data definitions, KPI frameworks, and performance reporting best practices.

Ad-Hoc Analysis

  • Deliver ad-hoc analysis and insights when urgent business questions arise, using advanced analytical methods.
  • Summarize complex analyses into clear and concise presentations or reports for senior leadership decision-making.

Team Leadership & Mentorship

  • Mentor junior analysts / developers, fostering their technical and professional growth through coaching, training, and feedback.
  • Advocate for a data-driven culture, encouraging the adoption of analytical best practices and promoting a spirit of continuous learning.
  • Contribute to the creation of a knowledge-sharing environment, ensuring that the team is up to date on new analytical tools, techniques, and trends.

Advanced Analytics & Modeling

  • Employ statistical methods and advanced analytics to uncover opportunities in operational and client data.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to implement analytical solutions that scale and integrate seamlessly with existing technology stacks.

Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration

  • Work closely with senior leadership to define project scope and translate business questions into analytical frameworks.
  • Partner with IT, finance, and operations to improve data hygiene, reporting automation, and system integration.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor in firm initiatives, supporting key decision-making with clear and actionable data storytelling.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 8+ years in business intelligence or analytics roles, experience in wealth management, investment advisory, or related financial services is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Data Science, Business Analytics, or a related field
  • Proficiency in BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) and SQL, experience with financial data platforms (Black Diamond) is a plus
  • Strong understanding of portfolio and performance data, fee structures, billing, and custodial platforms is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience managing or mentoring analysts; ability to build and scale a data team
  • Ability to report to the Charlotte, NC office on a hybrid schedule
