This is a hybrid role local in our HQ of LongBeach, CA OR Austin, TX.
We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Quality Engineer to enhance our team’s automation capabilities, focusing primarily on Playwright and on our New Platform. You will play a key role in ensuring robust test coverage and high-quality standards across our platform, contributing both to automation and strategic manual testing when necessary. Experience leading QA efforts and mentoring team members is a plus, as you’ll be integral in shaping our automation-first approach.
Tech Stack:
- Current Platform: Angular FE and Ruby on Rails backend on AWS infrastructure
- New Platform: React/Material UI/Storybook/NestJS, AWS (EKS) and GCP (ML Services), PostgreSQL, Python (Machine Learning / AI projects)
- QA Tools: Playwright, Mabl, Testmo, DataDog
What You’ll Do:
Automation Development
- Develop and maintain Playwright test scripts to cover critical workflows, ensuring efficient and reliable test execution.
- Contribute to the design of the automation test strategy, identifying areas for improved test coverage and reliability.
- Support team members in using the Playwright framework, enhancing their skills and fostering a collaborative approach to automation.
Manual and Exploratory Testing
- Perform targeted manual testing on new features and complex user flows, supplementing automation where needed to ensure comprehensive quality coverage.
- Lead exploratory testing sessions to identify potential edge cases and improve application resilience.
Continuous Improvement and Innovation
- Proactively drive improvements in QA processes, incorporating industry best practices and innovative techniques to enhance testing efficiency.
- Conduct code reviews, lead test automation training sessions, and ensure the team stays current with the latest QA trends and tools.
The Experience You’ll Need:
- Experience: 5-7 plus years in software quality engineering, with a focus on test automation and cloud-based applications.
- Automation Expertise: Strong hands-on experience with Playwright or similar automation frameworks.
- Leadership Skills: Proven experience leading QA initiatives or small teams, with excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach.
- Cloud & Security Knowledge: Familiarity with AWS and cloud security best practices.
- Problem-Solving Mindset: A proactive, solution-oriented approach to tackling complex QA challenges in a fast-paced environment..

Compensation Disclosure
The anticipated base salary for this position is $100,000 to $120,000, based on the Los Angeles market. The base salary offered may vary depending on several factors, including the applicant's qualifications, relevant experience, specific skills, level of education, certifications, and the geographic location where the role will be performed.
Please note that the listed compensation details apply to the base salary only and do not include additional elements of the total compensation package, such as performance bonuses, stock options, or benefits. The final compensation package will be determined by evaluating the candidate’s qualifications in relation to market standards and internal pay equity.
