About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Vice President of Engineering to lead and scale our engineering organization. Reporting directly to the CTO, you will be primarily responsible for people management, process optimization, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality software that meets our business needs. This role requires a seasoned leader with a proven ability to build and mentor high-performing teams, implement efficient development processes, and collaborate effectively with other departments. Experience in a startup or growth-stage environment is essential.

What You’ll Do

  • Strategic Leadership: Collaborate with the CTO and other leadership team members to define the engineering vision and strategy
  • Develop and implement engineering best practices and processes to ensure scalability, reliability, and security of our platform. Contribute to the overall technology roadmap and strategic planning
  • Team Building and Management: Lead, mentor, and grow a team of talented engineers across various disciplines (e.g., backend, frontend, QA, DevOps). Foster a positive, collaborative, and results-oriented engineering culture. Conduct performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and identify opportunities for professional development
  • Process Optimization: Implement and refine agile development methodologies to improve efficiency and predictability. Establish clear metrics and reporting to track progress and identify areas for improvement. Oversee the software development lifecycle (SDLC) from design to deployment and maintenance
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with product management, marketing, and customer success teams to understand requirements and ensure alignment. Communicate effectively with stakeholders about engineering progress, challenges, and risks
  • Resource Management: Manage the engineering budget and resources effectively. Plan for future engineering needs and scale the team appropriately

The Experience You’ll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field; 10+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
  • Proven track record of building and managing high-performing engineering teams. Experience scaling engineering organizations in a fast-changing startup environment
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and DevOps practices. 
  • Technical Proficiency: Deep understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and best practices
  • Experience with scaling cloud-based infrastructure in a regulated industry - healthcare is preferred
  • Familiarity with modern programming languages and practices and a willingness to learn and explore new ones
  • Personal Attributes: Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Passion for building innovative products and making a positive impact on Healthcare

Compensation Disclosure

The anticipated base salary for this position is $200,000 to $225,000, based on the Los Angeles market. The base salary offered may vary depending on several factors, including the applicant's qualifications, relevant experience, specific skills, level of education, certifications, and the geographic location where the role will be performed.

Please note that the listed compensation details apply to the base salary only and do not include additional elements of the total compensation package, such as performance bonuses, stock options, or benefits. The final compensation package will be determined by evaluating the candidate’s qualifications in relation to market standards and internal pay equity.
