POSITION SUMMARY

As a Federal Account Executive, you will drive CIQ’s business growth within the U.S. Federal Government sector, including civilian, defense, intelligence, and federal systems integrators. You will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive federal sales strategy, navigating complex procurement environments, and building long-term relationships with key government stakeholders, partners, and resellers. This role requires strong knowledge of government contracting, compliance standards, and technical alignment across CIQ’s open-source solutions.

This position is based in the Washington, D.C. metro area and requires up to 40% travel to customer and partner sites, as well as relevant federal industry events.

NEEDED TO SUCCEED

  • Proven experience selling software or infrastructure solutions into the U.S. Federal Government (civilian, DoD, intelligence).
  • Strong understanding of the federal acquisition lifecycle, including procurement methods, funding pathways, and contract vehicles such as GSA, SEWP, NASA SEWP, and OTAs.
  • Familiarity with compliance and security frameworks, including FedRAMP, FIPS 140-3, DISA STIGs, and NIST 800-53, and the ability to align those requirements with open-source infrastructure solutions.
  • Existing relationships with federal agencies, integrators, resellers, and the broader public sector ecosystem.
  • Experience working with federal channel partners and structuring compliant deals through teaming agreements, 8(a) small businesses, and federal primes.
  • Ability to drive pilot-to-production (P2P) sales cycles that demonstrate technical fit and deliver mission-aligned outcomes.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills tailored to federal stakeholders, including contracting officers, program managers, and technical evaluators.
  • Self-motivated, strategic thinker with a growth mindset and the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced startup environment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • 6 to 8 years of experience in federal sales, account management, or business development in the public sector.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, public policy, marketing, computer science, or a related field.
  • Deep understanding of public sector IT modernization, open-source adoption, and cloud infrastructure trends.
  • Must be based in the Washington, D.C. metro area, with the ability to travel up to 40% as required.
