Pay Range: $22.90/hr. - $27.62/hr. | $47,632 - $59,539 annual

An Administrative Assistant position is available with the City of Fort Worth Police Department / Employment Services Section. The Police Department is one of the largest Departments in the City with more than 2,400 sworn and civilian employees. This position will contribute to the City’s strategic goals, mission and vision by always managing and monitoring the authorized number of positions and vacancies within the Police Department.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associates degree from an accredited college with major course work in Human Resources, Medical Management, Business Management, Medical Officer Administration or related field.
- Four (4) years clerical and administrative experience.
- Must pass Drug Screen, Fingerprint background check, and Polygraph screening.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Excel experience; creating, updating and manipulating spreadsheets, building pivot tables, linking data to other spreadsheets, accessing data to provide counts, data and analysis.
- Human Resources experience, working with sworn civil service and law enforcement employees.
- Advance level of PeopleSoft (ERP) or a similar human resources system utilizing position management.
- Extensive telephone and public contact customer service skills.
- Position management experience.
- Grant tracking experience.
- High analytical and multitasking skills.
The Administrative Assistant job responsibilities include:
- Under supervision, provide support to the daily operations of the Police Department in the Position Management Unit.
- Provide administrative support to both sworn and civilian employees at all levels.
- Respond to requests from supervisory staff/leadership team as it pertains to the staffing levels for PD.
- Process all personnel moves as they pertain to both sworn and civilian employees; hires, re-hires, separations, promotions, transfers.
- Participate in the annual budget development process by gathering data, compiling information, running reports from Excel, PeopleSoft, etc., to create summary reports for PD Management.
- Run weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end position management and staffing related reports.
- Maintain Police Department personnel and training files to include filing, retention and destruction of files per the City’s Records Retention Schedule.
- Participate in special projects as assigned.
- Perform well in a high volume, task-oriented work environment
- Adhere to the assigned work schedule as outlined in the Department and City attendance policies and procedures; ensure all behaviors comply with the City’s Personnel Rules and Regulations.

Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking and repetitive motions.
Applicants for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following will result in being disqualified for this position: Felony Convictions, Felony Deferred Adjudication, Class A Misdemeanor Conviction, Class B Misdemeanor Convictions in the last 10 years, Class A Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication, Class B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication in the last 10 years, an Open Arrest for Any Criminal Offense (Felony or Misdemeanor), and ALL Family Violence Convictions regardless of class.
Physical Conditions
Light Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for the Sedentary Work category and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated Light Work.
