
Senior Staff Accountant
CityPickle is a dynamic and rapidly growing sport and lifestyle brand based in New York City. Our mission is to spread the joy of pickleball and put a paddle in the hand of every urban dweller. We specialize in operating both permanent, indoor pickleball clubs as well as high-profile, seasonal activations.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Senior Staff Accountant. This role will require the ability to manage both financial records, as well as perform some human resource functions. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing the monthly close process, and assisting with HR. Responsibilities:
Accounting
- Responsible for maintaining the general ledger and ensuring accurate and complete financial data.
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial adjustments.
- Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
- Process and reconcile bank statements and credit card transactions.
- Process and manage accounts payable transactions, ensuring timely payment of invoices.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly financial reports, including profit and loss statements and balance sheets.
- Manage the payroll process in collaboration with an external provider, ensuring the timely and accurate distribution of employee paychecks.
- Assist in the preparation of annual audit schedules and coordinate with external auditors.
- Support the preparation of tax filings and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance and support as needed.
Human Resources
- Manage employee onboarding and orientation, ensuring new hires are well-equipped with the necessary information and resources.
- Maintain and update employee records, ensuring compliance with legal and company policies.
- Assist with employee benefits administration, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other employee perks.
- Support employee relations by addressing concerns, providing support, and helping maintain a positive work environment.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience, ideally in a start-up and/or hospitality environment.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Oracle NetSuite).
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to manage confidential information and maintain discretion.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
