Associate Scientist - Chemistry

Cambridge, MA

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Associate Scientist to join our Chemistry team in developing next-generation RNA medicines. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, passionate about early-discovery work, eager to learn, and capable of adapting flexibly to a dynamic work environment.

Responsibilities: 

  • Independently performs a variety of moderate to complex QC testing to support internal synthesis, biology, bioanalytical, and CMC activities in an R&D setting. Contributes to the expansion of QC capabilities by contributing to continuous method improvement and implementation of new analytical tests.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of analytical testing (U/HPLC, LC-MS, endotoxin, spectroscopy, etc.) to support method implementation and routine testing.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation such as Cary UV-Vis, Endosafe nexgen-MCS, osmometer, pH meter, Agilent LC-QTOF, and other state-of-the-art laboratory equipment, ensuring their proper use and performance
  • Closely work with internal research departments to communicate timelines and facilitate QC requests.
  • Track progress, generate status updates, organize experimental data, and present in both written and oral formats at cross-functional team meetings.
  • Prepare SOPs and accurately record detailed experimental procedures and results in electronic lab notebooks. Peer review data related to chemistry testing.

Qualifications:

  • BS in Chemistry or a related field.
  • At least 1-2 years of chemistry lab experience in an industrial or academic setting, preferably in RNA therapeutics.
  • Knowledge of analytical chemistry and/or oligonucleotide chemistry, including purity analysis by LC-MS, analysis of impurities, and characterization of compounds by mass spectrometry etc.

Compensation: The base salary range provided reflects our current estimate of what we anticipate paying for this position. Your actual base salary will be based on several factors, including relevant skills, experience, internal equity, relevant education or training and market dynamics. In addition, this role is eligible for an annual cash bonus and equity compensation. City Therapeutics offers a comprehensive and competitive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, health and dependent care FSA accounts, HSA/HRA accounts with company contributions, in addition to a 401(k) with competitive company match.  Per Year Salary Range: $65,667 - $90,333.
