Associate Scientist/Sr. Associate Scientist - Chemistry

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Associate Scientist/Sr. Associate Scientist to join oligo synthesis team in Chemistry group for developing next-generation RNA medicines. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, passionate about early-discovery work, eager to learn, and capable of adapting flexibly to a dynamic work environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Independently perform every step of the oligonucleotide synthesis process, including synthesis, deprotection, purification/desalting and characterization of compounds.
  • Synthesize and analyze substituted oligonucleotides containing a variety of chemical modifications in support of internal programs, partnered programs, and platform work.
  • Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory equipment, purification, and analytical instruments such as MerMade 192, Thermo Fisher Vanquish/Exploris Mx Mass Spec and other state-of-the-art laboratory equipment, ensuring their proper use and performance.
  • Closely work with biologists to communicate timelines and facilitate synthesis requests
  • Track progress, generate status updates, organize experimental data, and present in both written and oral formats at cross-functional team meetings.
  • Prepare SOPs and accurately record detailed experimental procedures and results in electronic lab notebooks.

Qualifications:

  • BS or MS in Chemistry or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of chemistry lab experience in an industrial or academic setting, preferably in RNA therapeutics.
  • Strong knowledge of organic chemistry and/or oligonucleotide chemistry, including solid-phase oligonucleotide synthesis, purification by HPLC, analysis of impurities, and characterization of compounds by mass spectrometry etc.
  • Strong focus on lab work with ability to work independently and cooperatively in a team environment.
  • Proficient in data analysis and ELN record-keeping, with good documentation practices.
  • Quick learner with a passion for early-discovery work.
  • Ability to handle urgent tasks and adapt to new directions quickly in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Compensation: The base salary range provided reflects our current estimate of what we anticipate paying for this position. Your actual base salary will be based on several factors, including relevant skills, experience, internal equity, relevant education or training and market dynamics. In addition, this role is eligible for an annual cash bonus and equity compensation. City Therapeutics offers a comprehensive and competitive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, health and dependent care FSA accounts, HSA/HRA accounts with company contributions, in addition to a 401(k) with competitive company match. Per Year Salary Range: $94,000 to $106,000
