Survey Crew Chief

Civil Science is currently seeking a qualified Survey Crew Chief to join our Idaho Falls, ID team. The Survey Crew Chief will be responsible for conducting field survey activities that will include design and construction surveys for land development, transportation projects, and municipal infrastructure related projects. This is a full-time benefited position with over-time pay, company provided vehicle and survey equipment, safety gear, and opportunity for advancement.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed survey plans, considering factors such as terrain, weather, and project specifications.
  • Lead and supervise a survey crew, assigning tasks and ensuring the team's adherence to safety protocols.
  • Conduct field surveys using a variety of tools and equipment, including total stations, GPS receivers, and levels.
  • Oversee the collection of accurate and reliable data related to land boundaries, elevations, and other relevant features.
  • Process and analyze survey data using specialized software to generate maps, charts, and reports.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of survey data, identifying and resolving any discrepancies.
  • Prepare detailed survey reports, including findings, methodologies, and recommendations.
  • Maintain organized records of field notes, survey data, and project documentation.

Requirements

  • High proficiency with the use of total station (conventional and robotic) and GPS (RTK, VRS and static) instruments is required
  • Experience with Trimble equipment (total station and GPS) is desired
  • Experience with laser scanning instruments, GPS data processing, AutoCAD and Civil3D is a plus
  • Strong experience in boundary, topographic, control surveys, and construction staking for site development is required
  • Experience with transportation projects is a plus
  • A High School diploma or equivalent plus 2 years relevant experience is preferred
  • College training or LS is a plus
