Survey Crew Chief

Civil Science is seeking an experienced Survey Crew Chief to join our growing Idaho survey team. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled field professional who enjoys leading survey operations, solving problems in the field, and working on impactful infrastructure and transportation projects across eastern and southern Idaho.

As a Survey Crew Chief, you'll lead one- and two-person survey crews, perform construction staking, boundary, topographic, and design surveys, and work with cutting-edge Trimble technology to deliver accurate, high-quality survey data. You'll collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, contractors, and clients while helping deliver projects that shape the communities where we live and work.

This position can be based in Twin Falls or Idaho Falls, with travel throughout southeast Idaho and occasional trips to southwest Idaho.

What You'll Do

  • Lead field survey crews on transportation, infrastructure, and public works projects throughout Idaho.
  • Perform construction staking, boundary, topographic, and design surveys using Trimble GPS, robotic total stations, and other advanced survey equipment.
  • Collect, process, and verify accurate survey data while maintaining quality and safety standards.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, contractors, and clients to support successful project delivery.
  • Mentor junior survey staff and contribute to continuous improvement of survey operations.

What You'll Bring

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional survey field experience.
  • Experience leading survey crews or independently managing field survey operations.
  • Proficiency with:
    • Trimble GPS equipment
    • Robotic Total Stations
    • Trimble Business Center
    • Civil 3D
    • Adobe Acrobat
  • Strong experience with:
    • Construction staking/layout
    • Boundary surveying
    • Topographic surveys
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and travel as projects require.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience performing ALTA surveys.
  • ITD design survey experience.
  • Associate degree in Surveying, Geomatics, or a related field (Bachelor's preferred).
  • Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) licensure is a plus but not required for this Crew Chief role.
