Legal Counsel

We are looking for a Legal Counsel who will:
- Support internal stakeholders by providing legal advice to internal and external business clients to ensure that Clara's interests are well represented;
- Manage work and relationships with external counsel;
- Develop, implement, and review data privacy policies and programs to ensure compliance with data protection laws for the collection, processing, transfer, and disclosure of personal information (including the Brazilian General Data Protection Act and the GDPR);
- Support the development and implementation of legal strategies to reduce risks while aligning with the organization’s overall business objectives;
- Interact with clients to explain the legal and regulatory aspects of our operations;
- Manage daily communications received from the Brazilian Central Bank, ensuring compliance with deadlines;
- Partner with cross-functional and regional teams to provide support on legal matters of varying complexity, sensitivity, and tangibility;
- Collaborate with the Global Legal Team in LatAm;
- Provide legal advice within the area of expertise to functional and operational stakeholders to ensure their activities, policies, business practices, and transactions comply with all internal policies and applicable laws and regulations in Brazil;
- Ensure compliance with the Brazilian Central Bank’s regulations, especially regarding AML procedures;
- Analyze and interpret proposed and existing laws/regulations to prepare technical reports and legal opinions on their impact on Clara’s operations;
- Respond to general extrajudicial notifications and potential investigations by authorities in LATAM, with support from external counsel;
- Partner with the collections team to identify the best legal strategies for lawsuits filed by the company.

Our Requirements For This Position Are
- 2-5 years of legal practice.
- Previous experience in Financial law, Corporate law, commercial law, Technology Regulation, and Conflicts of law (International law).
- Preferred previous experience at a startup or tech company.
- English (written and spoken)
- Spanish preferred (written and spoken)

- In addition, your analytical skills will be essential for understanding the business scenarios and complexity, aiming to generate the best solutions.
- Software: Microsoft Office and Google Workspace basic knowledge
