What you'll do
We're looking for a Mid Backend Engineer with strong experience in Java development to help us scale Clara’s platform as we expand across Latin America. You'll be responsible for building and optimizing the backend services that power our financial infrastructure. You’ll collaborate with engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performance systems that meet our business needs.
Your responsibilities will include:

Developing and maintaining backend services using Java (Spring, Spring Boot) and microservices architecture

Designing and consuming RESTful APIs

Modeling and managing data using both relational (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, DynamoDB) databases

Working with event-driven architectures and message brokers like Kafka or RabbitMQ

Contributing to the implementation and improvement of CI/CD pipelines

Collaborating in an Agile environment to ship features quickly and reliably

Writing clean, maintainable, and well-tested code with a focus on long-term quality
Who you are
We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.
Must haves
-
3–5 years of experience in backend development using Java, particularly with Spring or Spring Boot

Experience with microservices, RESTful APIs, and cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure
-
Understanding of CI/CD and DevOps practices
-
Familiarity with software testing methodologies like TDD or BDD

Proven experience troubleshooting and maintaining complex systems

Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Working proficiency in English and Spanish

Proactive attitude and strong attention to detail
Nice to haves

Experience with Kafka or other streaming platforms

Exposure to system design and scalable architectures

Previous involvement in architectural decision-making

Knowledge of financial applications or platforms

Interest in using AI tools to improve developer productivity
