Ready to redefine what sustainable fundraising looks like in one of the most complex philanthropic environments in the country?

Claris Health is seeking a mission-driven Vice President of Development who can build deep, lasting relationships with donors and lead transformative fundraising strategies. In this pivotal executive role, you won’t just be securing funds—you’ll be designing the future of donor engagement for a cause centered on life, family, and hope in Los Angeles.

About the Role

This is not a legacy stewardship role—you'll have the opportunity to unlock the full potential of a 3,500+ contact database where only 200 relationships are currently active. As the VP of Development, you will move Claris from a founder-reliant model to a dynamic, mission-centered development strategy. You'll lead a talented team and oversee major gifts, campaigns, corporate partnerships, and donor communications, while personally cultivating relationships with high-capacity donors, foundations, and community leaders.

You’ll be on the frontlines of a $27M capital campaign, shaping how Los Angeles engages with one of the region’s most innovative spaces for collaborative community health.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build authentic, lasting relationships with individual donors, aligning their passions with Claris’ mission to equip and care for individuals and families before, during and after sexual health choices.

  • Lead and expand major gift strategies, capital campaign efforts, and donor development systems that support organizational growth and long-term sustainability.

  • Manage and mentor a development team, integrating their work across grants, data analytics, and events into one cohesive vision.

  • Oversee and represent Claris at key events and in community spaces, building visibility and credibility across sectors.

  • Partner closely with the CEO and board to refine strategy, track performance, and ensure development goals align with broader organizational objectives.

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • You bring 10+ years of leadership experience, including directly managing fundraising teams, setting strategy, and mentoring emerging talent.

  • You have 5+ years in donor development, with a successful track record in major gifts, capital campaigns, or corporate/foundation partnerships.

  • You’re not just a strong communicator—you’re a storyteller who knows how to connect mission to impact in ways that inspire giving.

  • You’re strategic, analytical, and results-driven, capable of refining approaches based on data and donor feedback.

  • You’re adaptable, humble, and collaborative, with a bias toward action and a willingness to lead from the trenches.

  • A BS/BA in Business, Communications, or Nonprofit Management is required; a master’s degree is a plus.

  • While grant writing is not required, familiarity with the grant process is helpful.

  • Proficiency in donor management systems (e.g., Salesforce), along with fluency in Microsoft Office Suite, is essential.

What You’ll Gain

  • A leadership role where your vision and effort directly translate into impact for thousands of families.

  • A hybrid work schedule that balances in-office, remote, and in-the-field engagement.

  • Comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, PTO, and CalSavers retirement plan.

  • A passionate, purpose-driven team that believes in doing hard things with heart.

If you’re ready to build something that lasts—and lead a fundraising movement rooted in relationship, integrity, and innovation—we want to hear from you. Apply today.

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
