JOB DESCRIPTION
Position: Development Manager
Hours: Full-time, Non-Exempt
Location: Remote (occasional travel for events and meetings)
Reports to: Vice President of Strategic Engagement, CEO
Supervises: Volunteers (Project, Event, Data Entry)
Salary: $62,000 - $64,000 annually
Overview:
The Development Manager plays a vital role in supporting the capital campaign and broader fundraising initiatives of Claris Health. This position involves multifaceted responsibilities including campaign logistics, donor engagement support, committee coordination, administrative assistance, database management, and event planning. The Development Manager should be skilled at cultivating donor relationships through clear and consistent communications. They ensure the smooth execution of the capital campaign while contributing to the overall success of Claris Health’s development efforts. In addition, this role serves as a liaison between leadership and key stakeholders, including the Board President and CEO, to support clear communication and alignment around fundraising priorities.
Primary Responsibilities:
Administration & Coordination
- Provide administrative support to the development team, including scheduling meetings, managing calendars, and handling correspondence.
- Coordinate the capital campaign timeline, ensuring that deadlines and deliverables are met.
- Maintain accurate donor and prospect records in the CRM/database (and Windshield2020), ensuring integrity and timely updates.
- Generate reports and mailing lists, and prepare updates for leadership, board members, and campaign volunteers.
Fundraising / Development Support
- Assist the VP of Strategic Engagement and CEO in implementing communication strategies with individual donors and foundations, including invitations, tours, and follow-up.
- Draft, edit, and prepare donor correspondence (thank-you letters, acknowledgments, stewardship reports) to maintain and strengthen donor relationships.
- Coordinate the production and distribution of donor and community outreach publications (electronic and print).
- Support donor stewardship efforts, including personalized thank-you calls, recognition activities, and milestone acknowledgments (birthdays, anniversaries, special notes).
- Assist in planning and executing campaign-related and fundraising events, including briefings, receptions, and volunteer coordination.
- Support research of new donor prospects, funding opportunities, and benchmarking against similar organizations.
Collaboration, Committees & Liaison Support
- Serve as liaison between development staff, leadership, campaign counsel, fundraising committee members, and campaign volunteers.
- Provide administrative and logistical support to key fundraising committees (e.g., Fundraising, Campaign Steering Committee, Executive Campaign Committee) by preparing agendas, taking notes, and following up on action items.
- Serve as a point of coordination between the Board President and the CEO on campaign-related matters, helping ensure smooth communication and alignment with strategic goals.
Qualifications:
- Passion for the mission, vision, and core values of Claris Health.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in nonprofit development, communications, public health, or related field.
- 2–4 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, campaign management, event planning, or administrative support (internship experience counts).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Familiarity with donor databases and digital marketing platforms is a plus.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while managing multiple priorities.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, this person is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, speak, and hear. This position requires extensive computer use so the employee must have sufficient hand dexterity to use a computer keyboard and be capable of reading a computer screen (or ability to engage technology to accommodate a specific disability). The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable otherwise qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Travel:
This person must be able to travel between locations and meetings. Occasional evening or weekend work required for events. Ability to lift 20 pounds for event setup. They must be able and willing to attend conferences, training, and other events as required to acquire and maintain proficiency in fulfilling the responsibilities of the position. Occasional hybrid work environment available, depending on organizational policies.

Pay Transparency Statement
The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below. Claris Health’s pay ranges vary based on work location. As part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants.
