Overview

This position requires a strong Software Engineer with the desire to build and maintain a platform for common access of AI tools and capabilities. This role will help build the AI “plumbing” that powers advanced capabilities for our customers. This role will be hands on to engineer robust, scalable solutions for deploying and managing generative AI tools, leveraging both AWS and Azure cloud platforms as well as on-premises infrastructure. This person will be hands-on in designing the foundational systems and pipelines that enable seamless integration of tools into Government use cases, ensuring reliability, security, and performance at scale. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in designing and implementing cloud-native systems, with a deep understanding of both the technical and operational requirements involved in enterprise-scale AI adoption for Government customers. The role presents unique opportunities, such as regular customer interaction to iterate, streamline, and multiply platform capabilities to meet customer objectives of broad deployment and exceptional flexibility. 

 

Technical Background Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or similar
  • Proficient writing code in a general-purpose language such as Python, Go or Rust
  • Experience programmatically interacting with cloud (e.g.: Amazon Web Service (AWS), Microsoft Azure) services and products
  • Experience implementing modern DevOps practices and tools (e.g., CI/CD, IaC, GitOps) in production deployment workflows
  • Proficient in containerization technologies (e.g., Docker)
  • Proficient in Linux-based development environments (e.g., Ubuntu, RedHat Enterprise Linux, or derivatives)
  • Proficient writing Automated Tests (e.g., unit tests, acceptance tests, system/integration tests)
  • Proficient with a version control software such as Git and hosted code repositories, such as GitLab
  • Experience with GenAI tools like, LangChain, Huggingface, Llama, OpenAI
  • Experience with Machine Learning (ML) and Large Language Models (LLM)
  • Ability to collaborate as a team but execute independently
  • Thrives in a high-trust, adaptable team environment
  • Ability to display both breadth and depth of knowledge regarding functional and technical issues

 

Nice to Have

  • In depth understanding of AI protocols and standards
  • Experience with unsupervised learning models, foundational modeling, and/or prompt engineering
  • Experience with design and implementation strategy around AI API gateways and an understanding of the services required to support enterprise development, including user access and data management  

 

Additional Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI w/CI Poly
  • Local to the DC/MD area
  • Available to travel onsite 2-3 days per week minimum to Fort Meade, MD
