Cleared Data Scientist (3236)

SMX is seeking creative technical Data Scientist who can design and develop solutions with our clients. We are looking for someone who has hands-on experience with using data science skills and technologies.  This person will be closely collaborating with other data analytics professionals to produce creative solutions that involve data pipelines, data models, and data visualizations.  This is an onsite position with on-site work performed 5 days a week at a client’s office located in Washington, D.C.  Top Secret Clearance is required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Use your firm understanding of the math underlying ML model training and prediction in order to develop models and improve them
  • Formulate and complete end-to-end projects that include data gathering, analysis, modeling, and ongoing scaled deliverables and presentations
  • Structure/preprocess datasets to find usable information and to prepare for modeling
  • Review and collaborate on recommendations and designs with other subject matter experts
  • Take ownership of solutions, assignments, actions items and issues, and remain accountable for their completion
  • Maintain solutions as business requirements evolve and upstream system changes are implemented
  • Produce high-quality, well-written technical documentation
  • Work effectively within a delivery-centric professional services team
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to understand their business need
  • Provide transparent and regular status updates in requested format
  • Work in a fast-paced Agile environment with fluid requirements and changing priorities.

Required Skills:  

  • Hands-on experience with development and implementation of ML models
  • Firm understanding of linear regression and regression/classification trees
  • Basic math/statistics fluency
  • Experience with a general-purpose programming language (e.g. Python)
  • Understanding of techniques to avoid overfitting ML models
  • Skilled in data manipulation/analysis
  • Excellent collaboration skills
  • Experience with AWS/Apache Airflow/Git a plus

Required Experience:

  • BA/BS or MA/MS degree in quantitative field or with strong emphasis on quantitative coursework (e.g., Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics)
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with development and implementation of ML mode
  • Active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a Top-Secret clearance

 **This position requires five days a week on site at customer location in Washington DC. **

The proposed salary for this position is:

$120,000 - $180,000 USD
