Senior Test Engineer

Salt Lake City, Utah, United States

Who We're Looking For - Senior Test Engineer

The Senior Test Engineer is responsible for ensuring products and/or services meet established standards of quality, including reliability, usability, and performance, required for release to production environments. This role owns the development and execution of manual and automated tests and is responsible for assisting with issue resolution. This role is an embedded quality partner throughout the software development lifecycle — collaborating closely with Product, Engineering, and TPM from design through delivery. This role requires an agile, "jump in and assist" mindset and a willingness to tackle various tasks and responsibilities with eagerness, efficiency, and a positive attitude.

The Impact You Will Make

  • Acts as a vocal proponent for quality in every phase of the development process
  • Participates in daily standups, Criteria Checks, sprint planning, and design discussions as an active member of the delivery team
  • Partners closely with Product, Engineering, and TPM throughout development — not just during testing phases — to identify risks early and provide meaningful input on functional requirements and product designs
  • Builds deep product knowledge to proactively surface quality risks before they reach the testing phase
  • Owns quality strategy, release readiness, and process improvement — not only test execution
  • Creates detailed, comprehensive, and structured test plans and test cases to support the validation of features and functionality
  • Owns lower environment deployments through Jenkins (Currently manages three sites)
  • Works with developers to grant access to lower environments as needed
  • Maintains and extends a Playwright + TypeScript end-to-end automation suite; triages nightly CI results and reproduces failures locally as needed
  • Performs manual testing, functional testing, regression testing, load testing, and performance testing as needed; interprets and reports results
  • Enforces the attribution testing gate — all attribution-related deployments require a full passing suite run before shipping
  • Writes and executes k6 scripts to validate A/B traffic splits and edge routing behavior under load
  • Tests AWS Lambda functions in QA-aliased environments using engineer-provided JSON payloads; verifies execution via CloudWatch logs and performs downstream SQL verification in Amazon Redshift
  • Navigates Cloudflare and server-side caching layers to ensure test fidelity, including cache purges, URL parameter bypasses, and edge node verification
  • Finds, isolates, documents, and tracks bugs through resolution
  • Reviews functional requirements, specifications, and technical design documents to provide meaningful feedback that supports product validation and QA processes
  • Creates and maintains IT and end-user documentation to support testing processes, environment configurations, and stakeholder enablement
  • Authors Deploy Stories in Jira, generates GitHub branch diffs, and coordinates developer sign-off on release footprint
  • Collaborates with Product and Engineering to write release notes and executes pre- and post-deploy checklists
  • Proactively monitors production environments and reports any issues uncovered
  • Assists with managing and maintaining QA and UAT environments, including provisioning test data and writing stakeholder-facing UAT instructions
  • Actively participates in process improvement discussions and proactively shares ideas to improve existing processes
  • Stays informed on the latest technology trends and recommends and implements improvements to enhance team tools, testing infrastructure, and QA processes
  • Builds and maintains strong, collaborative partnerships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Develops trainings for others on the team; eager to share knowledge, skills, and lessons learned
  • Performs on-call duty for urgent off-hours needs

What You Bring

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in Quality Assurance testing, including utilizing various QA methodologies, tools, and processes
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Strong hands-on experience with Playwright and TypeScript for end-to-end automation
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (CircleCI, Jenkins) and Git-based branching workflows
  • Comfort working in AWS (Lambda, CloudWatch, S3, Redshift) to perform test execution and data verification
  • Familiarity with Cloudflare, CDN caching behavior, and edge-layer debugging
  • Experience with k6 or other performance/synthetic traffic testing tools
  • Thorough understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL, and Git
  • Ability to write SQL queries for downstream data verification
  • Solid understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle
  • Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills — you'll document everything in Jira and communicate regularly with developers, PMs, and non-technical stakeholders
  • Able to work independently and with a team while exercising good judgment with professional and technical fortitude
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with Pantheon hosting or multidev workflows
  • Exposure to WordPress CMS environments
  • Experience testing ad-tech attribution pipelines or tracking pixels
  • Experience with load/performance testing at scale
  • Experience testing with different advertising platforms

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
