The Role:

The Operational Risk and Control Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing enhancements to the firm’s operational risk and control framework.. This role involves developing and implementing standards, procedures, and controls for operational processes and workflows and providing key communication and reporting across multiple teams. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively under pressure. They will also be responsible for strategic planning and execution.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Co-ordinate preparation of risk control assessments (RCAs) liaising with Management as required. Provide guidance relating to RCA scoping, risk identification, control identification and control assessment. Review and validate risk control assessments and intemal control monitoring plans
  • Develop and review Intemal Control Monitoring Plans based on key risks. Monitor the testing of primary risk controls and recommend improvements based on trends related to operational risk appetite metrics
  • Manage issues and actions identified as a result of risk control testing and relevant audits. Track the progress of issues/actions remediation and monitor identified issues
  • Provide guidance to risk and control owners in relation to risk policies and procedures, operational risk management frameworks, new business deals/products and changes/enhancements to existing deals/products, and produce line of business specific guidance documents.
  • Provide input to the development and maintenance of business specific and local risk procedures, as requested by Management and defined in a Specification, and support the embedding of the operational risk framework and operational risk Applicable Policies and Procedures across the First Line of Defense.

Requirements  

  • Preferably 10+  years in the Financial Services field
  • Technologically inclined
  • Ability to write policy and procedure documents
  • Experience with process mapping and control frameworks
  • Ability to communicate with Regulators, Auditors and Central Counterparty Clearing Houses
  • Self-Starter who can take initiative to take on items that come up

 

Skills:

  • Workflow mapping experience
  • Understanding operational control frameworks & testing best practices
  • Problem solving and analytical thinking
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Excellent verbal and written skills

The Base Salary Range for this role is $160,000-200,000. This range is representative of the starting base salaries for this role at Clear Street. Where a candidate falls in this range will be based on job related factors such as relevant experience, skills, and location. This range represents Base Salary only, which is just one element of Clear Street's total compensation. The range stated does not include other factors of total compensation such as bonuses or equity.
