The Role:
As a Senior Associate, Compensation at Clear Street, you will support the development and execution of the firm’s compensation practices. This role is ideal for someone with a solid foundation in compensation and HR who is eager to deepen their expertise, contribute to scalable compensation processes, and partner with People Team colleagues and business leaders. You will assist in ensuring our compensation programs are competitive, consistent, and aligned with Clear Street’s business goals.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with People Team colleagues to evaluate compensation practices and ensure alignment with hiring, retention, and engagement strategies.
- Support the development and maintenance of a job title and leveling framework across departments.
- Assist with the annual compensation planning cycle, including merit increases and incentive programs, ensuring accurate execution of processes.
- Participate in salary surveys, analyze results, and provide insights on competitiveness in the market.
- Review compensation policies and identify areas for improvement, efficiency, or compliance risk.
- Collaborate with Talent Acquisition and People Operations on market pricing for new and existing roles.
- Respond to employee questions regarding compensation and total rewards, ensuring a positive employee experience.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date HRIS data; support data hygiene efforts across systems.
- Generate reports and provide compensation data analysis to support decision-making.
- Work closely with Finance and other cross-functional partners on compensation-related projects.
- Contribute to ad hoc compensation and People Team initiatives as needed.
Requirements:
- Approximately five (5) years of experience focused on compensation.
- Experience with compensation benchmarking, salary surveys, and market pricing.
- Familiarity with job leveling frameworks and compensation structure design.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local labor and compensation laws.
- Proficiency with HRIS systems (UKG preferred).
- Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis) required; exposure to BI tools such as Tableau or Looker is a plus.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills and ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to partner across teams.
- Problem-solving mindset, curiosity to question existing processes, and willingness to learn.
- HR or compensation-related certification (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP) preferred.
We Offer:
The Base Salary Range for this role is $120,000-$135,000. This range is representative of the starting base salaries for this role at Clear Street. Where a candidate falls in this range will be based on job related factors such as relevant experience, skills, and location. This range represents Base Salary only, which is just one element of Clear Street's total compensation. The range stated does not include other factors of total compensation such as bonuses or equity.
