Commercial Paralegal / Legal Operations Specialist

New York, NY

About Clear Street:

Clear Street is modernizing the brokerage ecosystem. Founded in 2018, Clear Street is a diversified financial services firm replacing the legacy infrastructure used across capital markets.

We started from scratch by building a completely cloud-native clearing and custody system designed for today’s complex, global market. Clear Street’s proprietary prime brokerage platform adds significant efficiency to the market, while focusing on minimizing risk, redundancy, and cost for clients. Our goal is to create a single source-of-truth platform for every asset class, in every country, and in any currency.

By combining highly-skilled product and engineering talent with seasoned finance professionals, we’re building the essentials to compete in today’s fast-paced markets.

About the role

Clear Street is building a modern retail brokerage business, bringing institutional infrastructure and technology to individual investors and active traders.

As we scale, we’re expanding our partnerships, marketing, distribution and technology relationships. We’re looking for a hands-on Commercial Paralegal / Legal Operations Specialist to manage the growing volume of agreements supporting that expansion.

You will own the day-to-day contracting process for Retail, working closely with Retail leadership and our Legal and Compliance teams. From preparing an agreement through to signature and renewal, you’ll keep work moving, maintain accurate records and ensure the right people are involved at the right time.

This role suits someone who enjoys building processes while handling the detail themselves. You should be comfortable managing competing priorities, following up persistently and bringing structure to a fast-moving business.

What you’ll do

  • Manage a high-volume pipeline of commercial agreements across partnerships, affiliates, creators, paid media, creative production, agencies, events and technology vendors.
  • Prepare contracts, statements of work, amendments and NDAs using approved templates.
  • Review incoming agreements and redlines under Legal’s supervision, applying established guidance and escalating terms that require legal judgment.
  • Gather complete commercial requirements from business owners, including scope, deliverables, pricing, timelines and payment terms.
  • Coordinate reviews across Legal, Compliance, Finance, Procurement, Privacy and Information Security, as applicable.
  • Drive agreements through approval and signature, maintaining clear ownership, next steps and deadlines.
  • Maintain a central contract repository and an accurate view of agreement status, outstanding decisions and bottlenecks.
  • Track renewals, termination windows, exclusivity provisions, content usage rights and other contractual obligations.
  • Coordinate documentation and Compliance review workflows for advertising, creator campaigns, testimonials and promotions.
  • Develop intake forms, checklists, templates and reporting that help the business handle increasing volume.
  • Use contract management software, automation and approved AI tools to improve turnaround time and accuracy.

What we’re looking for

  • Approximately 4–7 years of relevant experience as a commercial paralegal, contracts specialist or legal operations professional.
  • Experience supporting a fast-growing business, ideally within fintech, brokerage, consumer technology, digital media or advertising.
  • Direct experience handling marketing, partnership, agency and vendor agreements.
  • Strong drafting, document review and version-control skills, with close attention to commercial details.
  • A track record of managing a substantial contract queue and moving agreements through multiple stakeholders.
  • Sound judgment about what can be handled through an approved process and what needs escalation to counsel.
  • Confidence working directly with business leaders, counterparties and external counsel.
  • Comfort with contract management systems, e-signature platforms and collaborative work tools.
  • A proactive working style: you spot missing information, chase decisions and take responsibility for follow-through.

Especially valuable

  • Experience at a startup or business undergoing rapid expansion.
  • Familiarity with affiliate marketing, influencer agreements, media buying and creative licensing.
  • Experience working alongside Legal and Compliance teams in financial services.
  • Experience establishing a contracting workflow or implementing a contract management system.
  • A paralegal qualification or equivalent practical experience.

What success looks like

  • Retail leadership has a clear view of every agreement, its owner and what is needed to move it forward.
  • Routine agreements progress quickly through approved templates and workflows.
  • Legal and Compliance receive complete information and clearly identified issues for review.
  • Signed agreements are easy to find, and obligations, renewals and usage rights are actively tracked.
  • The contracting process supports increasing deal volume as Retail grows.
